Today I did a slow riding morning on the monster..

(yes ok those who know me stop laughing I know I ride like a granny)

I was bricking it the monster has quite a tight steering lock compared to some of my other bikes and I am on tiptoes.

For the first time in 20 years I had to go round cones .. round a course and ride in a very slow controlled manor.

The bikes there where mainly supermotos and a trumpet sprint

Interesting that the people who had just taken there tests where dam good at going round the cones .. it was the riders who had been on the road for 15 years plus that found it a bit more tricky.

I guess as we just don't do it much do we!
I managed to complete all the tasks .. the worst was being a wiggly line road that kids use for push bikes ... I found that hell..

But I did the morning ok wasn't star pupil but I did it.
The only thing was we had a slow riding race .. slowest won..

I am pleased to announce I was the fastest! for once in my life!!!
Oh come on ... I couldn't let the Ducati be the slowest!!

My goal for the day was not to bin my bike!! and I didn't so I came home with a little grin.

When I was doing the old RAC ACU training we used to do the figure 8 and slalom on most anything, the best demo was always the goldwing. You just have to get used to shoving the monster around more than you're used to on Jap bikes to compensate.
Slow riding on monsters is the one place the rear brake has any practical use

Slowest race LOL You were doomed there, even at tickover your going to be doing 6-8mph.

Well done Melanie, at least you did it and enjoyed it (mostly?).
I'm sure there are quite a few of us on here who would also have struggled a bit.
As Nick said, Monsters don't really do slow.

I loved the one I did in 2008. Really helped me with the slow control.

Well done - I would have found that hard work too.

I like the fact you couldn't let the Ducati be slowest though :chuckle:

I am usually the slowest at everything its painful to be around me I am sure.

But try as I damned well could ... that bike would go no slower!!.. and well .. how could I let the little Ducati let the reputation down... for once in my life I was the fastest at being slow... and I had to grin.
