Ok folks, Cathy has just bought a new 696 (in white).
So what mod's and accesories have people fitted and any other info regarding it would be very helpful.

Cheers,
Chris.

Stock 696 is pretty good without any mods.
However....

14T front sprocket is about the best, cheapest and most usable mod.
A seat with a bit of grip when braking is a good thing for guys.
Tyres! The stock Bridgestones are for sporty riders on dry days, you might find trying other tyres gives you more confidence and feelback.
Some crash protectors/frame sliders.
A gold chain! Bling bling :)
Adjustable levers for smaller hands.
Termis!

That's a great list of mods that will make a real difference (except the chain ;) ), Stuart.

Here's some suggestions that won't make a practical difference, but will improve the look ;)

Carbon bits n bobs :
carbon exhaust shield,
carbon exhaust valve cover
carbon hugger
carbon tank centre stripe - and the accompanying separate bit around the fuel cap
VentureShield to protect the paintwork from wear and chips

btw, I wouldn't go 'official DP' carbon, there are very good alternatives available for much less. I don't know if I'm allowed to mention suppliers here.

There are various tail-chop kits really improve the look.

Enjoy the bike.

It really depends what you want. The budget is always the biggest problem. Do look around the websites for stuff. I bought some dp stuff but then a lot more has come available via other makers since.

Carbon fibre parts you can get at reasonable prices.I personally dont like the chinese stuff as the fibres different to most others.

I have
belt covers
headlamp cover ( I paid £55 )
mudguard
rear chainguard ( I paid £25 )
sprocket cover ( I paid £25 )
hugger ( I paid £85 )
exhaust shield cover ( I paid £20 )
bikini fairing ( ebay bargain new secondhand £65 )
oil radiator cover/ air intakes 3 pieces ( I paid £130 )
tank lower centre ( dp bought with tank top £240 but you can get cheaper )
tank filler top piece
flapper valve cover ( only 1100 )( I paid £15)
termis ( ebay bargain new for £670 )

What else is available if you have funds
Carbon tank panels
Seat cowel
speedo cover if you dont run the small fairing
air intakes tank but these only stick on over
brake clutch reservoir brackets 1100 only

Not much about in the footrest department for sensible money. Rizomas around £500 but plus £250 for pillion.
some other brands around £400

Exhaust systems from around £450 too £1200 for full systems

Tail tidy kits from £70 to £200 which saves around a kilo
I got the EVOTECH one for £79 and is a great kit and easy to fit.

Billet parts like levers and footrests are again something you need to check against pricing on the internet. Levers a pair from £100 to again £200 +

I can recommend the touring seat from Ducati for £135 and the lowered seat looks great with the two fabrics.

German ebay ( ebay.de ) has more to offer than uk and prices are comparable or cheaper than uk. I also trust the german dealers who I have dealt with.

Gold chain yes if you need one straight away and maybe a lighter sprocket set.

Led indicators and dont forget the resistors.

Mirrors seem to be ok for most on the new monster. I quite like them as they do seem to work well with good looks and view. Some really cheap looking chinese ones around that will see the bin from some reviews. Rizoma make some nice ones if not oberon bar ends ones.

For sure the Frame protectors and front wheel forks crash sliders.R and G are what I got and they work. Aero ones are nicer imho and an investment you hopefully wont regret .

Rest is up to you but theres plenty to get going with

I agree the stock 696 is a great looking bike but if you've got tiny mits get these. Although I understand that the latest Monster has adjustables as standard.

These are Pazzos as used on BSB bikes. Not cheap but you've only got to buy them once and they do a great range of colours

Thanks for all the info guy's, Cathy wants a tail tidy as the first item on the list 7 to try a 14 tooth front sprocket, so will borrow one from me bruv's DD bike and see how she gets on with that.

Albie, there are carbon tank panels on German ebay at the moment, and as you say there is far more 696/1100 carbon, exhausts ets on german ebay.

will keep you informed of all mod's as soon as the wallet will allow.

14T front sprocket
R&G crash bungs - front, middle and rear
heated grip
Michellin pilot road 2 tyres (very happy with them)
scottoiler (would not recommend it - chain guard too short - splatters on tread unless you turn it down to the point you get not much benefit).
Had suspension adjusted by specialist
