I have a ducati monster 620sie, it has a Datatool System 3. The battery went completely flat over a week, and when I charged it everything works, but the indicators stay on permenatly (i.e. no flashing all 4 on all the time). The bike did get a bit wet the previous weekend, and the clocks mist up, but what can it be ? any ideas ?

I am not sure why but I suspect the Data Tool, if it is spiked is this a symptom ? or is it the clocks getting damp ?

Not sure where to start really !

I doubt it's the clocks most likely the data tool but someone more helpful should be a long soon

with the ignition off put the indicator on.. do they flash? also.. unplug the flash relay and see if they go out.. that will tell you if its the alarm or the clocks...

I think the flash relay is part of the clocks unit or something like that :chuckle:

Yes it is on the 620, so I wouldn't rule water damage out. Get it in the sun to dry out a bit and if not urge alarm looks like the suspect!

Sorry was being lazy. Lookdped at a wiring giagram now and yes its in the clocks you guys are spot on. Check the arm bit for water ingrrss if it looks good then get the cocks in the airing cupboard worst case disarm alarm and put it in service mode. This takes it ou of the indicator circuit as bst we can without unwiring it.

i had that problem for years... inside the clock got damp and wrecked something.... after MANY questions on here and tryin to save money i simply disconnected the original indicator system and wired in a seperate one! not to hard to do (for someone skilled in that sort of thing) and CHEAP!!!

i had a ducati specialist try and fix the circuit board but it didnt help.. if you do a search on here you will see this is a common ploblem!!

best of luck!

Thanks Guys, really impressed with your help and this site !

I will try the above - if I have ignition on or off the indicator switch does nothing, I tried removing the 'relays', ignition on and they stay on, so seems like a fault with the clocks. They are cracked in the glass (which seems common as well !) and do get missed up a lot. I can't imagine Datatool 3 gets effected with a bit of water !

I will stick them in the airing cupboard, but is it easy to get a new clock unit ?

, but is it easy to get a new clock unit ?

No, the imobiliser is coded to the ECU and the keys so you have to change them as well. Over a grand I believe.

An alternative would be to get a used set of clocks and have your ECU 'reflashed' to remove the imobiliser function

i was told ( i dont know how reliable this is) that if you dry the clocks and get them working (and again im assuming the glass is going to have to be uncracked) then silocone them shut it fixes the damp issue....
