Hi all,
can anyone advise how to bring a previously good battery back to life? it has been left a couple of years in the garage and is not responding to the Optimate. I have some de mineralised water but do I need to add battery acid also:confused:

Many thanks,Will:)

to be honest you may as well go buy a new battery.. even with the acid i doubt the plates inside are any good now

Left for a short while you get a loosely bonded suphate covering on the plates which you can knock off with some agreesive pulsed charging.
Leave them too long and the plates get a layer that is well bonded on and the battery is dead.
Lead acids batteries always store charged and keep charged.

It's dead mate, no ammount of charging, poking with sticks, bathing in acid or even swearing (which usually is a good fix for anything) is going to recover it.

TBH, there isn't much difference in price between a cheap battery and a Yuasa, considered by many the best. A good battery is the first step to a happy Ducati..

Thanks, now I think about it she used to start on the button with a good fully charged battery, anything less and it was a different story.
Cheers,Will.

Is the YTX12-BS in the link the same size as the YT12B-BS?
Well the answer is no, you may find that you don't have room for the extra 17mm of depth of the one in the link. That is of course assuming I've picked the right one myself.:p
