how many volts

my 696 has been standing for abot 3 months connected to a optimate 4 (think it packed up though) when I try to start it it just goes click click click. I bought a new optimate and have had it connected 24 hours but it still does the same, the dash is showing 12.5 volts is that enough to turn it over ? how much should a good battery show ? I just need to work out if its the battery or something else. please help really want to get out on

i would get a new battery for it.
i also have a optimate 4 for my m750.
battery may show 12.5 v with multi meter but wen load put on battery i guess would be going as low as 10 volts which then wouldnt be able to start it.
a good battery would show somewhere around 12.7.
