Engine casing - lower rear RH side there is usually a bolt you can attach to, but anywhere on the casing where you can make a good contact.
Always make sure there is a good earth to the ECU as well - check it is tight, can cause problems if not.

There is the battery earth which goes to the rear of engine by the rear brake cylinder. And supposedly the engine mounts must be clean of paint or coating. I had this advice off capo when the bike had problem and it was the immobiliser connection at headstock. The litte black box that should actually mount on the airbox where you can get at it.

i got the m600.. the earth srtrap from battrery goes under airbox and connects to earth strap there (its in two pieces) but doesnt go rearward.. the one at the rear is about 2 inches long ....

thats similar to the 600ss one, Its attached to the brake/footrest hanger plate on the mount bolt with a nut. I wondered why it wouldn't undo.:eyepopping:

checked all over today, nothing unusual, new battery on and it fired up like a dream so hoping that was the problem! :)

as martin said, all ok, all earths 0.04 ohms.
drop test on battery went down to, 9.5 - 10 volts, on load.
so new battery fitted.
