I'm changing the chain and sprockets this weekend on my M900 '97. I have the torque setting for the rear axle as 72Nm and rear sprocket 47Nm (and loctite). Is there any setting for the two bolts on the front sprocket retainer and do they need Loctite as well? Thanks in advance.

They're small, lightly-loaded bolts, so it's not critical - use commonsense and don't over-tighten them. Threadlock won't do any harm but will need wire-brushing off the bolts next time.

BUT always check the locking-plate as it can wear quite badly on the teeth, in which case a new plate is essential & quite cheap.

My workshop manual for s4 states 6Nm with loctite 222, If that's anything to go by.

I picked up a retaining plate this afternoon thanks for the advice on that Martin.
At 6Nm I don't think I need to worry too much about that, but I will use Loctite as well.

Just tighten them up until they strip John...then half a turn back!

Hi George, how you doing? Just had a call from Karl, he's on his first track day down in Pembrey having alot of fun.

I just noticed there is no sachet of grease with this new chain (Tsubaki) there was in the last one we did (think that was a DID on a Bros 400) is there any specific grease to use?
