Im a tightwad and tend to go for the freebies !

Off the top of my head...

Not an app - but put an icon up for bbc i player - i use that to watch tv in bed !

Metal gear solid lite is a good shoot em up to keep me occupied in reception when ignorant twat buyers cant be bothered coming down on time for their appointments.

Paper toss

Flixster (movie/film reviews etc)

TV Guide

Sky+ (if youve got it at home and want to remotely record)

Table Tennis

Theres also lots of pervy 'watching girls dancing in sweaty gym clothes' apps/stuff mate - I know you like all that....:chuckle:

Had two rescues and known a few others. Great house dogs very loyal. one of mine was very protective though, but she had been treated really badly. Need lots of exercise otherwise they will entertain themselves!::rolleyes:

You could always buy a Hungarian Vizla....

Ans Fatbloke, as far as some of the useful apps are concerned just download all the free ones, they also have 'lite' versions of a number of the games etc for you to try. If you don't like them, bin 'em.
Scrabble is a classic time consumer to keep the brain sharp. No good for me as I can't spel.

Free and most used for me is 'Shazam'. Just press it and it identifies music that is playing at the time, works in rowdy pubs and clubs through the noise, and manages to pick up whats playing in the background at the supermarket, its pretty cool.

I "borrowed" and I phone and installed some useful apps for the owner ... :0) ..
But I played with the light saber one for hours jumping about waving a phone about ... and I installed a strobe light thing on their phone so it kept flashing.. and some tasteful music ones..

I am now barred from playing with the Iphone.. so unfair!!

Pedro: Was thinking of getting Co Pilot Live, can you have it in your pocket and get the directions through headphones? So you can use it on the bike without having to mount the phone.

If you haven't already got Redlaser then its free at the moment and a really useful little app.

Its a barcode reader that does price comparisons, so if you are stood in a shop you can find out if their prices are a bargain or not.

I changed from the blackberry because of one app that is very useful for me, my measures, you take a photo and you can add arrows with dims on, angles and write notes on the image before emailing or saving. great if you spend hours sketching out bad drawings with dims all over them and then trying to remember just how it looked or trying to match the sketched to photos. well worth 59p!

others that i think are worth having..

bbc news
skype
battery doctor (seems like my battery last longer but probably my inmagination, gives good tip to prolong battery life though)
see this! (iphone 4 only)

...and dragon dictation, dictate what you want and then choose to email it or copy to text. great for people who struggle with the touch screen iphone.

I recommend an app called Sleep Cycle.

Basically it is an alarm clock app that records your sleeping patterns through your movements at night using the accelerometer. The idea is that you set a maximum threshold for your alarm to go off and the app will attempt to wake you up to half an hour before when your sleeping pattern is the lightest.

Not only is it really nice to wake up you can also track how deeply you slept that night… or on average.

I’ll probably be bored of it in the week but finding it pretty fascinating at the mo.

He11cat
08-09-2010, 12:55 PM
I may give that a try....
as long as it does not record me sleeptalking ... oh dear..
Through movement at night ... opps... I am hopeless , I hit my head on a wall in my sleep and woke up with 2 black eyes once. Fallen out of bed a few times as well.. and often used to sleep walk..and have nightmares.
I would love to find out how much I sleep id bet no more then 2 hours a night... id crash the app..

I will give it a go tonight.

My mate has tried that, said it works fine but having the app running kills your battery! I just use it in the car with the phone on charger.
It's an awesome app but just winds me up when it shows you a picture of a slip-road when you realy want to know about the roundabout at the end of it.

I tried Sleep Cycle last night.. clever!!

Was a bit worried about sharing my bed with a phone.. it had full battery power so I didn't bother to plug it in as it says..

Freaky... monitors you through the night.
I apparently fall into a deep sleep real quick but thats it within under an hour Im back up in awake and light dream state...basicaly my sleep is a state of near awake and very light dreaming.. :( I am not getting the deep sleep you need to function.
I had guessed that anyway.

waking up ... well .. I woke up just before it went off.. next door and her *&$%%% phone ..5am 6am .. 7am..
The only angry bird in my house is me at the mo as I am going to lob her phone out a window !
Its so loud I can hear her phone ring right over the road with all her doors and windows shut..and she sounds like Cybil from Faulty Towers "I know oooh yes I know!"... grrrrrrrrrr
She sits in bed yabbering on and on at 5am 6am 7am.. every chuffing day..

Is there an app for blocking her phone pleeeeeease!!!..
