Is it worth to go all the trouble to set the closing shim clearance to 0.0 or, as I keep on reading, is better to err a bit on the loose side (0.02)? what's you people experience on this?
Apparently if you set it on 0.0 you'll probably end up binding something anyway, and, although I'm not pedestrian, I don't particularly race up and over the redline all the time, more fan of corner speed, me:rolleyes:

The DD bike and the monster i set at 0 but with pressure applied downwards on the closing rocker i can spin the shim. However, after x amount of miles whatever setings you use the closer gap opens up especialy if you have used new 'c' rings. I had the monster closer gaps at .22mm when i first bought it with 4 of the 'c' rings broken into several pieces. The bike ran/rode fine. Go figure eh........

After talking to a Ducati mechanic some time ago i have found that the gaps tend to increase less since i have been fitting used undamaged 'c' rings as opposed to new.

Set them to within the recommendations and forget about them.
