I have fancied doing a bit of trail riding again as I have started to become a couch potato
in the winters.
But had to be air cooled of course.

It's a 1982 klx 250, yes I know it's jap but the Bultaco's, Beta's, Montesa#s are fetching alot of money.

It's been in one family for 26 years, and has been maintained well. Plan is to restore the plastics and source couple of missing bits, then do some steady trail riding and marshalling at local trials/enduros

I had a dream last night I was out on an XT500 and pulling fantastic wheelies.
Go on Giler fix her up, a day like today would be great on the trails.

Nice looking bike - I've just picked up a 1976 Honda XL125 in a somewhat "modified state" (one of the previous owners did a home/DIY trial conversion) which I'm planning to be my spring project.

Yep it's a XL - the DIY job that was done was trying to make a TL - the tank is different on a true TL (flows under the seat).

Don't think it's an XL, i sold mine a few years back and there are quite a few differences.
Could be an early SL125 maybe, with an attempt to make a trials jobbie out of it?

No she's definately an XL - the one in your photo is the later model (after 1978 - the location of the rear shocks attachment is nearer the rear wheel).

That would be good, I need to give the 900 belts, oil & rear tyre first!
Still got me OS maps and have a mate who knows the lanes like the back of his hands.
When I used to trail ride on Yam WR400 it was falt out everywhere - we would come back and I had no idea where I had been!

You could of course convert your 900

Did think about selling the 900, buying a cheap 600 and building one.
I have a hammer and grinder, how hard can it be:scratch:
