View Full Version : Cadwell park trackday ??

J.P
19-01-2010, 01:51 PM
Following on from my thread about trackdays this year.

Would club members like to join me at Cadwell Park on Monday July 19th or the 9th August with No Limits ? www.nolimitstrackdays.com

The company I usually go with to Cadwell only seem to have Tuesday's this year and going up after work on a Monday isn't much cop.

No limits haven't released the date for August, yet but the July 19th date is £99 and open for booking....

(I'm already going to be booking September 13th at Brands Hatch with Rapid Training)

J.P
19-01-2010, 01:56 PM
Just to add that it'll be down to each individual to book their own slot directly with No Limits, in full, not me. They're less flexible that the other people I used.

Might ask AK about doing the 9th - we are racing all over the weekend before - from Fri 6th till the Sunday 8th late afternoon. Might be worth staying on for a relaxing day afterwards......

so just as a 'heads up' - you wont be able to get into the paddock till after 6pm at the earliest on the Sunday night of the 8th, as the gate 'honchos' will keep non-race folk out till the meeting has finished.

Yeah I'll commit to going on the 9th, loved Cadwell and I need to get some practice on the new bike.

And it should (?) be warm in August, surely....

Yeah, right! I'll vote for whichever date has the best weather. can you let me know before I decide? Cadwell is only about one hour away from me, it would be a shame not to.

If you are thinking of Cadwell then this might be another option if there are any places left.

Me and Louise are booked on for the Ducati only Monday.

A friend of mine is a very keen photographer. I was talking to him about the track day etc and he has offered to come along and take pictures of us at a small cost if we decide to buy the pictures afterwards. We could have our own UKMOC photographer??

Who would be interested in buying them afterwards? Have not talked money but I can not see it being a great deal.

Also, would the other photographer get the upset? Not that we would have to tell him and I am assuming that my friend can walk around the track taking pictures??

If I'm honest I'm happy paying for the track photographer. The thing is the track photographer has the run of the place, has multiple cameras out and knows the ideal spots, angles and camera settings for each as he does it day in day out.

I had a slight walkabout when I was there last and I have a feeling certain areas are not easily accessible, it's also a hell of a walk to some corners.

I'm sure no one would have any objections about your friend coming down and snapping a few pics of us, I wouldn't commit up front to paying for anything but would be more then happy to pay for any good shots he manages to get.

Believe me I'm sure share his view when it comes to photography, but in my mind when you start asking for money you, by definition, become a professional photographer, and people then have expectations!

J.P
13-05-2010, 07:54 AM
I agree with Louscannon. The best shots are often from vantage points that the general public can't get to, hence the extra cost of the shots.

Do people stay over somewhere afterwards (excuse for a beer?), or do you travel home the same day? I'm wondering how knackered i'll be afterwards?

Stevoo,
Usually we travel up the night before, depending on where people are coming from, just because it's usually a fairly early start on the trackday. There'll be a few of us going up Sunday afternoon by car or bike and we stay in a place called
The Black Horse Inn, Donnington-on-Bain. Cheap pub near the track and food is ok.

Let us know if you manage to get booked on the trackday

Heads up - reminder to anyone thinking of getting into Cadwell on the Sunday:
There is a large race meeting going on from Friday morning testing, with racing all day on Sat & Sunday - which wont finish till about 6pm on the Sunday. You'll likely not be able to get van's into the paddock till after the race meeting.
If you DO arrive early & want to watch, (tickets are usually about a tenner) do pop over & come & say 'hi' if you can find us in the paddock with the bikes (1 or 2 x M800ie & 1098s). You might have to park nr the back of the paddock tho unless on a bike.

Hope the Monday goes well for you :) - shame we are unable to stay on to join in, but lack of holiday days left from work wont let us.

Andy ....... :( i think I need to have words with you...

whaaaaaaaaat .. oh great .. first the tint o metre.. now this .. tis because we live in a low crime area they are bored!!!!..

Well thats a load of pants.. im moving !!!

To be honest they tend to target cars and mopeds.

I do not know of one incident of any of my bikey (hisss spit ) Hardley riding folks / friends who I can hear across town with the back door open being pulled up.

I know some loud bikes! (I get to know certain bikes from roads away .. just by the noise .. oh there goes Bill lol).

I don't know of any Ippo biker who has been stopped (she starts touching wood left right and centre and forehead) or pulled for loud exhausts.

They will and do pull the scooter/ moped brigade as they sound dreadful.. sometimes no exhaust !!..as the noise is just horrible... and a nasty pitch.

I have never come across another biker here who has been pulled up on a noisy bike.
Lets face it some of the Harleys about here are loud and horrible loud!!!.. is not a happy sound for me!!!

I am keeping me baffles out loud pipes do as far as I am concerned save lives. But I am not very loud with me bean cans!

Lube your chain, make sure it's not too tight or too loose.
Check you're not close to the end of your brakepads' life and your tyres aren't 'square'
I take my mirrors off and tape over my speedo (you want to concentrate on the track ahead)
Check fluid levels.

Let the bike warm up properly before you take a noise test.

06-08-2010, 03:30 PM
As Slob has said and also you will need to set the correct tyre pressures (less than road settings) before you get out on track.
lots of peolpe will be around to offer help and advise.

Go round the bike and tighten up all the bolts, drop your pressures on the day by 2 psi or so and remember to inflate at the end (give me a shout I have an auto tyre pump and guage), cover your speedo up you don't need any distraction. Take loads of water and snacks - eat a snack after each session, dont eat a big meal at lunch. Above remember it is a track day not a race day so go out and enjoy it don't worry what others are doing, find your own pace and it will be a great day.

Finally home, a little damp due to a shower going over Snake Pass... very tired! Was a very long weekend for me, the ride home pretty much wiped me out... but VERY happy with the day!

Really hope everyone had an incident free afternoon, look forward to seeing most of you in Belgium soon!

Hey Pegboy I got some rear facing footage of you behind me including the chicane and also some of the marshall running over at the right hander. Hope the bikes ok.

Also got some of Slob passing me when I got stuck behind the guy on the 999 at Coppice, will post it all on Youtube this week.

Glad we all had a good time by the sound of it.
We were all pretty safe & sound, I know Pegboy had a small grass excusion but the damage was minimal, and he's a hard geeza anyway, and so is his bike.

I got a good few photo's and will upload soon, but I algo got a few on my phone which I'll put up today.

We gave the Jap bikes a run for their money, but jeez some of those 600's and 1,000's are quick out of the corners, but thanks to the brute for, and sheer skill of it's owner, I took my fair share of scalps round those corners.... :)

Move of the day : In my opinion,
Johnsy outbraking me and taking the inside line going into Park Corner after a 130 mph thrash down Park Straight. Git.

Yeah no real serious damage, bent brake pedal then snapped the bolt off in the rearset, luckily the suspension man had a drill and with a make do, handmade, brake pedal bolt i was back in action, also put a dent in tank, was going to respray the tank over the winter anyhow, change the decals so even more reason now.

Anyone have a brake pedal M600 98, + Bolt.

Think we all gave the jap riders a show of the dark side :yoparty:

J.P I'm paying the price now of trying to keep up with you, i ache from my lil old fingers right across my back, i feel a lighter flywheel & better rear profile tyre calling :D unless anyone wants to give me a s4r engine in exchange of my 900 carbed :hail:

Almost had a Stafford holding me up if it wasn't for my poor exit out of the hairpin! ;)
