On Wednesday night I ordered my first bit of Carbon and today it arrived! :mand:

I gave the bike an 'express wash' then began fitting, 3 bolts came out and I thought great it's going to be a 10 min job....but there is always one stubborn sh*t isn't there, the screw that just keeps turning and doesn't go anywhere! In the end I had to cut the plastic clip. Here it is:

Before

After

http://i655.photobucket.com/albums/uu274/rac3r786/DSCN0529.jpg

I quite like the look of it but the back is a little short and I'm now thinking what I can convert to Carbon next! :chuckle:

I have 2 questions:

1 - Where can I get that plastic clip which holds the mudguard?

2 - What can I do about the short back end? Fender extender? What did you do?

Thanks

Also does anyone know what the groves at the back are?

I had the same problem with a clip when I went back to the standard one after selling my carbon one to Slob. It was he who came to my rescue!

You can change pretty much all the plastics with carbon, the world is your oyster!

It holds pretty tight with that one clip missing but it would be nice to replace it. I'm going to keep the screen, tank and seat cowl red then see what I've got left to play with :yoparty:

The channels near the back edge are for brake pipes on 900ss and the like.

They have a single brake line from the master cylinder to one caliper, then a link pipe over the mudguard to the second caliper.

On the supersport it's hidden inside the fairing, so there is some use for the Tuperware after all!

I've never seen a fender extender yet, done in carbon? If you put a black one on there it would look SH1T so i'm sorry to say stick with form over function. Love the look and learn to love the cleaning.

Made the one on my bike from a Carbon tank pad, works well.

Will get some mate but you might be able to see it on my" Latest mods" thread.

Just had a look and yes you can see it, just cut and shaped it to suit my guard, sealed the cut edges with clear laquer and pop riveted it on and painted the heads black. Job done, you would just need to find one with a similar weave to match the guard.

Those clip/clamps are cheapish from any DUCATI dealer. If you want black get a set for an s2r 800. Get new and dab a bit off copperslip on the nut/bolt.

They are around £4 each from the last time I got some for the s4.

I dare not tell you about how my carbon fetish is going. I just got the exhaust cover for a bargain price on ebay from Lithuania. Top quality and low price. At least you can remove and sell if necessary.

Advice keep all OEM parts and do not sell on in case.

Heres my list so far
Carbon front mudguard
Belt covers
Headlight top cover
Flappervalve cover
Rear Chainguard
Rear Hugger
Front fairing
Front sprocket cover
Tank top fuel cap panel
lower tank centre strip
Oil cooler intake sides L & R
Oil cooler centre cover
Carbon Termis
Front exhaust pipe heat shield

Weight loss loads especially exhausts. Money loss lots but who cares !!!:D

Hi Anne glad you like it :mand:

My Carbon so far:

The bike already had carbon heat shields and front sprocket cover then I added the front mudguard.

The wish list:

Carbon belly pan (like the one just sold in the Sale section today)
Carbon Hugger
Carbon Chain guard

I forgot to ask: Can I use the normal car/bike cleaning stuff and polish?
