I have been away for a week or so...when I started the bike today I touched the front brake lever and the brake light now stays on....any ideas what is causing it?
TIA....

my 695 used to have the same problem (as did others from what I gather).

I used to spray the front lever with some wd40 and that used to fix it, for a while at least

Probably the little switch stuck, it is the small black oblong this under the lever

What the others said ^^^

Quite common, rinse with WD40... don't let it run down onto your discs/calipers/tyres.

Mine got frozen into the "on" position on my quad the other day after a winter's bath - WD-40 and "flicking the switch button" eventually released it.

I've found bikes much faster after that kind of treatment :eyepopping:

You can also back off the two screws that hold the micro switch in place and then reseat (after a quick spray of WD40/GT85) then slowly do the screws up until the light goes on/off as normal, had abit of that trouble last year, all sorted now though!

Can also be a sign that they are on the way out. I a dodgy one on trike and no amount of WD4o, fiddling and cursing would cure it. Replacement switch had to be fitted in the end.
