Ducati for sale?

Apparently Ducati is up for sale, with a big european (read: German) group being the most likely to buy. I'm sure if we all chip in we could outbid them.

from my side, inside info as boss of VW is a Ducati nut with a collection of bikes and he wants the company.

That story has been floating around for months - the boss of VW was looking to buy into a small, high value prestige bike brand to add to the VW portfolio.

Last I heard he was told to bugger off by the Italians and was then looking at MV instead

Don't see why the Italians would be opposed to sitting alongside names such as Lamboghini, Bentley and Bugatti (Ignoring VW themselves, Audi, SEAT, Skoda and Scania)?!
