I have the stock rearsets on my bike and am thinking to change to an aftermarket solo setup. I've noticed that the rear passenger ones have bolts into the cans. Is this to support the cans or to to support the footrests? I was wondering as if I change I don't want the cans to flap about and cause an issue if this is the case...

If the standard rear sets are the ones in your picture, then they are to support the cans!

Some more expensive aftermarket rearsets will supply a support bar like these:

Lots of others are availible! Or bin them all together and get single rearsets with highlevel cans!

No plans to change the cans so looks like the rearsets will be staying on, cheers
