Hi

Anybody know if a 1997 900 Monster tank will fit a 2000 Monster 600?...both carb models.

Cheers

It will fit - unless yours is a (very) rare plastic tank carbie bike (and yes, there were some then!)
Even then, it will still fit, but you would have to change the hinge bracket.

The main difference will be the catch and also the tank graphics will differ slightly - the Ducati font changed to a newer look.
Early ones have the black catch/hook & the later ones have the silver catch, but the holes will be in the same place on both :)

Hope this helps

Thanks very much...yep both metal tanks and the decal looks the same font on both too.

Only thing i have just noticed is a 2000 900 tank is a different part number to a 2000 600 tank...only 1 digit different though!?

Although i guess they would be different anyway as a 2000 model 900 is fuel injected

You asked about a carbie to a carbie........

The 900 carbie's were still being registered in 2000, tho the 1st ie 900's were being made that year for export..........

Yeah was just looking at part numbers and as i could't find a 1997 part number, looked at a 2000 900and it was different to the 2000 600 and then answered my own question as to why the 2000 models were different.

Still looking at a 97 tank for my 2000 600

a carbie tank will fit a carbie bike, also a fuel injected tank will fit a carbie frame!

What mods to the frame are they on about?
There were NO mods to the carbie monster frames from when they 1st rolled out of the factory in the early 90's till the fuel injected bikes came out, tho there WERE mods to the engines over the years.

Please find out what mods to the frame they were on about - or are they thinking of the 2001 complete new frame for the fuel injected bikes - which also dispensed with the loop arm suspension?

I stand to be corrected, but have not in my very humble experience heard of this.

You will also be interested to know that my current road bike (as has been since 2004) is a 1998 M600 frame, with a 2002 S4 tank on it, which fitted to the frame without changing anything for fit - even tho there were extensive modifications to the bike elsewhere, that was one thing I didnt need to modify to fit.

Hmmm perhaps they are misunderstanding me  or thinking i'm asking for a 97 tank to fit a fuel injected 600?!

The 97 tank looks the same as mine...all the same fittings and attachments underneath which is what i guess matters most.

Thanks for your help so far...i am going to go ahead and buy it i think...will keep you posted!
