Is there much of a difference in the weight between the S4RS/999/1098 etc 10 spoke and the more normal 5 spoke Marchesinis ?

Aren't the 10 spokes forged and the 5 cast? Anyway the magnesium forged are about 7.5Kg, aluminum forged about 10Kg, per pair obviously.

I think they're forged, so if I had a set of ally forged I'd save about 10kg then.

Does the 1098 6" rim fit an S2R though or just the 5.5"?

Depends on whether you have air in them or not!

Do you think helium would be a good idea then Jim?

1098 has a larger diameter rear axle so the wheel won't fit an S2.

Have all the weights in our notebook in the garage, will dig it out for you tonight Stafford. Unless you are racing, then there is not really that much difference tho - unless you need to save .5 kilo here & there etc

CK :)

Cheers CK, I know it's only a road bike just fancied some 10 spoke bling. Anyone got a rear for sale?
