Would a DS head fit my M900? and what mods you reckon they'll be needed? (apart from buying a set of spark plug, that is..;))

1000 DS has a 2mm larger bore and wider stud spacing so it might be a bit involved, possibly easier to modify 900 heads to DS.

As Rob say's it will not fit, but its not a huge job to convert a 900 head to dual spark, after that you'll need 2 extra plugs & leads and a set of dual spark coils, just doing this mod is not going to give you any-more power.....why are you considering doing it ?????

got offered a large-valved, gas-flowed ported etc. etc. head that is in fact a conversion (not a 1000 DS head) and, as rebuilding my head will cost me 500 quid without any ports job, I might well consider it. Any idea where I can get the coils without paying top molah from a ducati dealer?

you may need to retard the ignition.

Normal timing is based on a single flame front having time to spread, by doubling the flame front you reduce the time needed for it to spread.

I suspect you could do this by slotting the pickup plate and moving it.

On old air head BMWs and Guzzis its about 4 degrees, you migt also need an ignition amplifier, Dyna do one.

For coils, try a breaker and ask for coils off pretty much any Jap four, they are mostly twin output jobbies.

I will get a flywheel with retarded ignition for the job, to go with the hi-comps, re coils, any particular bike in mind, as most I've seen or worked on have the stick coil stuff. Who knows of a Dyna supplier in UK? they seem to be all in the USA..
