View Full Version : Ingrained bug splatter on mirrors!?

Right, I bought some Ducati performance matt black teardrop mirrors of eBay and they are in good nick apart from some bug splat residue that seems to be really set into the coating of the mirrors.

It's no biggie as the mirrors only cost me £30 delivered and they look loads better than standard but I am a bit anal about cleaning and that kind of stuff

Any good suggestions on how to revitalise the finish?

I've tried bug and tar remover and WD-40, but to no real avail, it got the worst off though

Cheers!

Wrap a wet rag round it for a while, have a coffee / tea / fag, then go back and it should come off with more ease.

Try some neat alcohol, assuming they are not painted!!! Btw, the alcohol is for the mirror, not for you...

Try SMOOTH peanut butter. You can use this on plastics too that are bleaching. It has natural oils which revitalise.

I much prefer crunchy peanut butter, can I use this instead.

One of the angel delight type mixes works as well as whipped cream, err hang on which forum is this ??
