As title really, I'm going to use mine unless the weather is really crap or I can't be bothered :running:

When did it last snow properly in Suffolk?? It didnt stop me in North Yorkshire, a little spin from the rear wheel is great!

Wouldn't dream of it.... it's a Ducati, not a tortoise!

No - but will choose which bike carefully, if the roads have been recently salted it won't be the Ducati!

I just ride it as I find it.. If I can get up onto the road I'm usually good to get most anywhere I need to.

No way, as long as the weathers not too bad.

Usually limit my road runs to crisp dry sunny days over the winter period - if it's snow or ice it'll be the Defender or DR350 that come out to play

After years of all year round UK biking, cold and wet are now avoided if possible :)

No not at all just re taxed for 6 months but the mileage will be limited to dry sunny crisp days.

I picked up my bike in January and I was out through the end of last winter. I just avoid the salt, if they salt the roads I try to wait until it has rains good an hard then I'm back out. If I feel the need for a ride to ride when the salt is down I wash after the the ride and re apply ACF50.

You do still get some nice days, albeit cold. But if its wet makes you learn to ride smoother for the glourious summer days to come, hem hem.

Saying that I hope to strip mine down so its nice and spangly for next year, but will still have rides on my others to keep the addiction going.

Cheers

Agreed!

Although, now I have a relatively new bike I might get on the train for a month or two in the depths of winter and only ride on those nice sunny weekends. :gay:

Packed up, stripped down, torn apart, re-built and then maybe a few cheeky rides after february's crappy showers have stopped!

Will hopefully ride mine on a nice winter's day assuming it hasn't leaked all of it's oil out!! Even bought a new pair of lined textile trousers yesterday to keep me warm!!

Ride baby ride! Haven't taken the tube to work since the 30th of January 2009 and I don't intend on putting a smudge on that flawless record :D

Don't need the bike for work luckily (only 5 minutes walk from home!), so any outings would purely be for fun!

Well done on your flawless record! :)

wouldn't dream of putting the little baby away - might not go out quite as much as I do just now, but every possible chance only avoiding if there's ice, the salt spreader's just been out or its absolutely p'ing it down at home

I will still ride though the winter even if my 2000 M750 is a pain in the ass with icing up.
Yes i have carb heaters and use petrol additives but on the good days the bike is just so
good i forget all the bad bits?????????????and have to go out :thumbsup::spin::spin:

London doesn't get much snow, If it does everything comes to a stand still anyway :chuckle:

I'm only using mine for short commutes unless it's dry and sunny!

After four decades of riding in all weathers, i'm more inclined to accept the hospitality of my cars heater throughout winter these days.
Although that isn't to say that i won't venture out on a decent day, well wrapped up of course.
So, the bike will be used on the odd day when it's nice.

While on this, has anyone got any riding tips for me? as this is my first winter on a 'big' bike, I rode my CBR125 on and off in winter but that's a bit different :mand:

I know the usual like in the rain avoid drains, painted lines, etc My commute is all 30's (if I manage to even get to that!)

Any help appreciated

or better still you can coat your tyre with a very light covering of WD40, racing teams do this to drive out moisture during wet season racing and snowy tracks, it helps imporve grip and protects the tyre.

Best way is to apply to a cloth and then wipe onto the tyre rather than spraying the tyre directly.
