View Full Version : London Tunnel Run Mk2

Stuart42
03-10-2009, 09:13 AM
Hi all

I've suggested the date of Sunday 1st November for a morning London tunnel run culminating in a breakfast.

Its a bit of a cop out but I'm only suggesting the date as will leave the planning to those that did such a fantastic job last time, but thought it wise to start another thread for this one.

Hope to see lots of you there.

Cheers
Stuart

10am sounds good as does the meeting point - familiar and loads of room to park!

I'll map out the route and try and include a couple more tunnels and less traffic. Since we're ending in East London I'll try and drop in Blackwall and Barbican and depending on how many people decide confirm attendance may need to share the route with a couple of people in advance to bring up the rear.

There's also been some interest from members of DOCGB London so we may have more than just monsters!

Good job, I’m trying to get an Aprillia and 749 out? I am starting to believe they are more fair weather riders, you know Sunday afternoon when the sun is shining, then clean the bike longer than the ride. Don't get me wrong I admire people who keep their pride and joy in immaculate condition but you need to ride it!!

Duke Konan

Definitely let me know about Fatboys as I was under the impression that the intention was to move the UKMOC meet to Sunday and combine it with the tunnel run (can't remember who said that but I definitely heard that somewhere).

If not I suppose we could end at the Gun

I believe it's 10 not 9
the forecast seems to be improving as Sunday morning draws closer
the plan was to finish around 11:30 in Docklands,15 minutes or so from the bottom of M11.
I don't care too much what it's like, it's only water.

I guess we need to make a decision by midnight.
We could do a wet run as a practice for next Saturday either way, just in case Stuart and the Hampsters show up, wouldn't want to be a no-show if they'd made the effort to ride up here in gale force winds!

The weather forecast for tomorrow is still "Heavy Rain" so I would tend to agree with slob that tomorrow may not be the best day for this.

I'm tied up the next few weekends so won't be able to join but I'll definitely be on the first ride out in the spring!

I need to cancel if any of you are going. Today my monie grounded to a halt after my electricity supply finished (that is what I think has happend).

I been on that anti bike tax run. It was fine from ace to hydepark corner car park at 20-25mph all the way. Just before parking lot it could not keep going at low revs and was miss-fiering on one cylinder. After around 45 min stop I managed to get it going with no problems for a trip from Hyde Park to Trafalgar square where it stalled on me and did not want to start. We managed to bump start it but at whitehall it was a done. Home on a AA truck :(

BTW do not brake down in front of whitehall!!! I was searched 3 times and asked by copper to move about 20. Granted when I told them I have broken down and am waiting for AA they buggered off each time but still. I do not look like terrorist!!!!!

Guys, I would be setting off for London from Brighton after the heaviest rain in the morning... so I guess I would be in London around or shortly after mid day. I would be checking with Pegboy or Slob via sms/phone to see if you guys are out and about. If possible will see some of you at Fat Boy if you guys decided to go there some point in the afternoon.

Starting later doesn't work (for me) as Sunday drivers come out.

I had to depart early to go and fix my bike. Got the worst of it. At 60mph on m-way I could see the bow wave in front of my lid I kid you not. I had two instances of aquaplaning (or what ever it is called here). First one on a bend on m11, I have made the bend but moved from outside lane to inside lane to finish it. Second one I misjudged amount of water collected. In between those two I almost rear ended a silver jaguar as idiot had no lights on at all. I managed to match his speed at around 0.5m to his bumper. I am quite certain he still did not see me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sadly had to go back by train as pick-up sensor is not sending messages to front cylinder coil so no spark. Good news is charging issue is sorted :)
