failing to upload profile picture

Hi,
Every time i try to upload a picture it all looks fine then I get a screen to say that upload failed.
no explaination or reason.
Any ideas?
Its a small file jpeg image.

Profile picture - are you talking about avatars or signature files ?

Your avatar looks fine but no picture in your signature.

I have upleaded a new pic but the old one is still showing ??
