I'll post up here once I find a good cafe.

Might be up for it, weather permitting.

Where & when? (Breakfast being theoretically any time between about 6 am and noon).

Coming from Farnborough, and being terminally slow, would prefer closer to noon than 6!

we are still waiting for Grant to find somewhere in B'stoke, failing that we are happy to do what we did last time, would meet at Stockbridge about 10 ish and head to the 'Hill Top Cafe' just outside salisbury, probably just after 10. I guess that from farnborough you would have to leave about 9?

MrsC_772

Stockbridge at 10ish fine by me.

Will probably be heading out on the Monster in that direction tomorrow, with a view to finding a decent dining pub in Salisbury area for lunch. (Annual post-Christmas get together with in-laws is always in Salisbury, and we're sick of the mediocre hotel restaurant food at the usual spot, and on a recce for somewhere better).

Dont forget the Hampshire Breakfast is going to be this Sunday coming:

http://www.thehilltop.co.uk/map.htm

I personally am going to leave Ower services near Romsey at 9.30, then heading up to Stockbridge to meet others at 10.00 at the White Hart pub.
Then follow through Stockbridge and follow the road (A30) towards Salisbury where the cafe is on the left. Probably be at the cafe about 10.15
Plenty of parking!
I'm sure others can meet along the way from other places if you want to organise it yourselves.......

If it rains, i'll be in the car!

Hi guys, Sorry I hadn't posted - been really busy at work.

I did find a diner but is was a bit too American and didnt think the Italian bikes would mix too well. It might be an idea or next time though. http://www.nelsonsdiner.co.uk/index.php

There are some cafes around the Basingstoke area but either they were closed on Sundays or parking might have been an issue.

I'll be up for the Hilltop though.

Any idea how fussy the bikes/dealers are about service intervals?

I'm umming and ahhing about coming on Sunday because the new toy has over 500 miles on the clock, it's due for its first service at 600, Salisbury's about a 100 mile round trip and then I'd still need to get the bike back to Snells (about 20).

I'd like to come, but I don't want to upset the warranty by not getting the first service until nearer 650 miles.

Snells were good about my service as I missed the first one by a few miles. They even said that for the yearly service that I could do the minimum (change oil, etc) but to be on the safe side they would do as the warranty requested even though I'd only done 200 miles more than the previous year.

As Chris said give them a ring to check.

You wont as they need to be ridden at least 621 miles for them to be able to turn out the service spanner icon off which only comes on at 1000km = 621miles. I had to ride 30 miles back for them to turn it back off in the rain. You wont upset warranty by 50 miles.

I am happy to meet on bike (weather permitting), or car for just a 'meet'! Don't see anything wrong with meeting in cars if the weather's c**p, cos isn't it supposed to be 'meeting with UKMOC'?!! Not all of us ride our bikes all of the time! Are we still gonna meet at the White Hart at 10am?

Chris, if we're gonna meet at the cafe, can you give me the postcode?

Likely to come through Stockbridge anyway - depending on what time I get there (and whether I see any Monsters outside the White Hart) might stop there, otherwise straight onto the Hilltop.

Can't say I'm keen on riding in convoy being a slowcoach.

Other half on Fazer will probably come too.

Should be at White Hart Stockbridge by 10.

The Weather?
I spent years keeping my previous bikes prestine & not going out if it was wet with the end result of me missing out on loads of good riding & the next owner of my bike getting a low mileage immaculate bike.
But not any more, stuff it, now I don't worry about it, I just wash it off when i get home.
The only time I stop riding is when the salt goes down, cos that really does ruin the bike in double quick time.

See you all tomorrow for a mega breakfast, yum.

nice to see new faces and meet new people, got home, a bit 'damp', till next time....

Had a superb turn out, think 12 bikes, 10 of which were monsters, some long travellers too! :ukm:

Good to meet everyone today.

Nice to see the variety of Monsters out there, though efforts to recruit me into the cult of carbon fibre and loud cans will have to wait until the 696 is fully paid for!

Shame about the weather - for all its virtues the Monster isn't a wet weather long distance tourer. Andy was decidedly smug when we stopped for petrol as the Fazer's little fairing did provide some weather protection.

Would be up for another meet in a few weeks.

A good run today, I even enjoyed the ride home even though I got soaked! I'm still drying off now :chuckle:
Great there are more faces too. This is turning into rather a large gathering.

Suns out my way now, might have to go back out to dry the bike off

Hi Everyone,
Nice to see you all today! Got soaked on the way home and bike playing up in the wet. Kitchen floor covered in wet newspaper soaking up all the water dripping off my wet gear! Sun came out later so have only just covered up the bike - never mind, a good meet anyway! :)

Chris, it sounds like you're the only one who managed to stay dry!

8th November's ok with me for next time - now, where's my car keys! ;)

Will be up for the next one tho... any weather!
I'll understand if no one parks next to me:biggrin:

Martin,
As our newly elected rep (4 votes to none I think!), how about organising some sort of Christmassy lunch/get-together in December? What about the White Hart in Stockbridge one December Sunday lunchtime if available (not that I'm giving you ideas, but just a thought?)! :yoparty:

No, not at all! I just couldn't stand going at 60 any longer (yes, I know we were being considerate to everyone else - just don't ever let me go in the lead!) - lovely bit of completely traffic-free dual carriageway - I couldn't resist it!! He did catch up, but only cos I had to slow down to turn into the cafe!!

Using it as an excuse to not go on the next Tunnel run.

Strangley I quite enjoyed the rain, I rode just as slow/fast:chuckle:
Maybe I found my speed - its perfect for rain!

Failing the White Hart for a Crimble lunch, I can recommend the Mayfly just up the road, is very good food.

But thats for our 'rep' to decide.

Cheers
