That is interesting. Might take a chunk out of KTMs market? Seems I see loads of the things commuting in London.

I like the Hyper , but think I'd want the maddness of the 1100 rather than the easy(-er) to live with 800 :chuckle:

I like KTM's but with so few service centers and far more frequent servicing requirements puts them out of the equation for me.

As Rosie loudly said at one KTM dealers.....

"Look at that, they do them in B&Q colours"

I've not been able to look at the black and orange ones in the same way since :freak:

At least it's got a proper trellis frame on show though I've never been sure about the transfer of the tea try to over the front wheel ;)

I imagine that they see the baby BM's doing OK in that capacity/style part of the market and jumped in.

With a lower seat than the 1100 and priced right it will be a little belter.

I wonder if the engine might find its way into a monster 796 next year?

I like it lot's
If the engine is a smooth & easy to ride as the S2R800 then it will be a peach

Maybe I'm missing the obvious but...

In bringing out the two valved 796 Hyper, have Ducati just ressurected the 800cc lump killed off when they dropped the S2R? :fou: Can't see the logic in a 796 monster when performance of 696 already matches it TBH.

I don't think it will be the S2R800 engine? Surely it will be a bored / stroked 696 engine with a Siemens ecu, which would put the power between the 696 & the 1100

I think it could be a great bike & if they price it right it could sell very well, can't wait to test one, might even chop the S2R800 in for one

The colour shcemes seem a bit bland compated to the 1100 hyper

I'm a bit perplexed as to what they've done here. The 696 makes around 80bhp. This new engines 100cc bigger and makes 81bhp. If they've used the S2R 800 lump with 696 top end then I would expect more power. Maybe it makes more torque or delivers the power lower down the range. Whilst the 696 makes more power than the old 800, it has to rev 1k higher to make it.

The pricing looks about right. I think it looks great in black. My only worry would be the suspension. Ducati have a habit of putting lower spec components on the smaller capacity bikes. If it had the 1100S bits on it, then I reckon I might even be tempted.

I also expect that Ducati will put this engine in the new Multistada too so that may well be worth a look.

Every road test says the ohlins is rubbish and no better than the standard, but we all buy it because its looks bling ! Even Ducati admits that! I think its going to be a real winner .
