Well what another successful weekend away with the boys and girls of UKMOC and our friends of the Monster Owners Belgium. Once again they showed us warmth and kindness and their hospitality is second to none. Getting ready to book next year already as the accomodation was better than last year and I even got a Four poster bed.

I got home safe and sound at 9.50 pm and came home with Katana. We met 2 monster owners on the euotunnel who we hope will be joining on m1100 and m696.

Two sunny days of fun and frolics with great food on a boat and the usual bar with our flemish stew. The beer was great and the boys still out there have just bled it dry of Kwak.
The mood was very merry and everyone had a laugh especially Shuffy who cannot stop drinking the alcholic cherryade. Caroline had a Kwak and enjoyed the moment the special glass bubbled and gushed into he face.
J.P and AlanC were also on top form with the gags. I personally sat back and was entertained but left them somewhat shocked. You will probably find out later why but what a laugh.
Stef and Sven got married last weekend and turned up to our meal and bought us drinks. We got them a little something between us from us and the UKMOC and they were delighted. They were truly delighted with Ladybird who had made for them a UKMOC cookie cutter. Poor old Sarah had and still has some problems with her brakes seizing and although a lot of effort to sort remains a problem.

We were all photographed on a stage one by one this year with a ducati ad backdrop and I was lucky enough to be photographed on a twin seat Desmosedici. Awesome !!!

Got some Carbon World De bargains and save around £150 on normal price. Gary T is bringing them home.

Will post some pics tomorrow but LouSCannon has some cracking ones.

Enjoy the rest of week guys and the rest ride home safe.

Cheers Martin. Maybe you can bring the old girl back next year. She was missed by the guys. They noticed I grafted on my wristband 059 onto 1100 and said great idea as I was there. But it was the s4 really and said she still has hers on too. They had a massive vinyl printed wall with all 405 and shes on there in all her glory.

That dark m1100s was a nice looking bike. It looks good with x box and was being modded as was there. They removed flyscreen for carbon speedo bottom cover. Had the rizoma pegs too. Next year for me them then for sure. I got carbon flapper cover, carbon rear chain cover and carbon hugger for 130 euros. Saved £140 and postage too. :D:D

Glad you came along . Your bike looked stunning on the day especially on the stage. It drew some attention. Garys just left mine as he dropped my bits off and had a cup of tea and a natter. Bits put on and looks great. Bit off faffing with rubber tap washers as spacers as carbon thinner than plastic but fit is perfect and a few more grammes saved.

Ready to book again for next year so book early if you want the hotel.

Fantastic looking event there guys! I really must make sure I'm around for it next year - being in the USA is such a bitch x

Loving the stripped down M1100 too - about time someone did an under engine exhaust and nicer footrest hangers for those... might be tempted myself now...

Hope to see you all at the UKMOC weekender next year, if not before...

How can you get any more carbon on your bike! Didn't those rear sets cost something ridiculous, nice as they are?!!

Albie, your 'ex' Monster still has the '059' band attached! I am hoping to get there next year, one way or another! Sounded like a fantastic weekend!

I don't drink beer however - what else do they have?

Having just got back from the Belgium "Weekender' I just wanted to say a very big 'thank you' to everybody involved for an absolutley top few days away. Brilliant company, great bikes, sunny weather and more (cherry flavoured!) beers than you could shake a stick at. It was really nice to put faces to names and make a few new friends in the club. Huge thanks also have to go to the guys in Belgium. Our hosts were so welcoming, enthusiastic and very forgiving to our more 'interesting' Flemish translations of local town names.

Despite the power of the mighty Tw*tNav fitted to my bike (see pictures) we all managed to to make it back to Calais today (well done Ladybird and Alan C for leading) albeit slightly later than planned due to an extended 'lunch' break.

Anyway here are few pics to give a flavour (Kriek) of the weekend, but I suspect there are far more interesting 'calendar' shots to come (Albie - Mr September). So if you're thinking about going next year, book it now (but not before I do).

http://www.flickr.com/photos/speedtriple52/show/

PS. And a special message for the guys now in Germany. How's JP's special 'sticker' going down and is Slob in the slammer for International Noise Crimes Against Humanity?

Hi Liz yes Martins said he's keeping it on. It was after all the bike that counted in the record but also it had to be ridden to actually count in a 3km rideout. That be me then and we got a tag the same for our wrists. Im just letting my new bike look after it for me.

They do this lovely cherry drink. Its beer but not beer. You can choose from loads of drinks or non alchohol. No ones bothered as long as you have a good time.

You should have bought that smoke deflector too and the rear tea tray was a real bargain and would have showed more blue paint. The carbonitus I think you got it off me.

Hi Albie,
Nope, I wasn't there at all. My 696+ is total loss since an old lady decided on 18 august to make an U-turn with her car without looking in her mirrors. Oh, she didn't saw me beside her car but luckely I was driving very carefull because it was the second trip with my son back on the bike. No one harmed but no more bike to ride. :fiery:

But ... I'm comming to England near Cambridge the 3th october to get my Monster 1100S. With the railway till the little village or town and then drive home with my new bike :mand:
So, if anybody would like to drive along back to the Folkstone tunnel with me let me know!

Top event - many thanks to the MOB for organising, the day was excellent and they did particularly well organising the weather!!

and nice to meet all the fellow UKMOCers who were polite enough not to take the mick that I'd only had to come from Brussels rather than from Blighty (tho' as I pointed out the unexpected (to me) "Green Day" - vehicle free day in whole of Brussels!!! - meant blagging half the cops in Brussels to be allowed to travel to the MOB day at a blistering 30kph maximum speed whilst dodging cyclists who acted, correctly in the case of this day, as if they owned the road...).

Anyway good to meet you all and great to see the various bikes in the flesh and put some faces to names etc, I won't list all the UKMOCers I met as between online names, real names and sunstroke I'll probably forget as many as I remember, but anyway was nice to meet you all and hope to catch up again at Arrow Mill or next year's MOB (if I'm still out here in Belgium then). Plus WDW2010 is a must - went in 2007 and was awesome.....

I'll post a few piccies when I get the chance - still got pseudo in-laws and girlfriend staying so not had much time yet....

FWIW the old ugly bike did manage to start every time to Abertville and back (not first time though!) but did chew the needle roller bearing on the clutch basket side whilst near Verdun. Still made it home without any attention, but now needs a new push rod, bearing and seal.

Problems? Nah none of us had problems, just some of us had 'experiences'....

I'll leave it to those concerned to tell their stories if they wish, but mine made it back trouble free, even managed 150 miles out of a tank at one point!

Rob is that the cost of the broken part or what your bike's worth now??? :hissy:
Did you find your 'missing' gearbox or is it still AWOL?

My bike's worth more now than it was before!
Full story one I've finished fixing it.
£5.09 is the cost of the gear selector return spring.

Blimey, it all sounds like a European mechanical war of attrition!

Phew! Could you get to it without a full strip down?

What happened to J.P's bike, I take it didn't quite get all the way home on it's own steam?

The big question is, was the 'Ring' to blame for all this? (that Tolkien's trouble I tell you)

Excellent pics Jim, looks like you had a hoot...mostly!
Can't wait to hear some of the stories, sounds like a brill adventure.

Grumpy, i have the same problem with vertigo mate, i nearly shat meself on the way to Belgium via Hull, when the Humber bridge came into view....eeek!
I thought, if they think i'm going over that, they can get knotted!
Maybe it was mixed blessings that i only made it to Spa, due to the accident, i'm sure i would have screamed like a girly if i'd had to go over the Alps, to get to San Marino.
My mate and his missus carried on after i set off back to Rotterdam and home, they took some wicked pics of their journey, i might post them if anyone is interested...innit?

G : ) :spin:

Is the Monster going as well as the DesmoSaidItchy Logyk? Or is it buy (the very expensive) one, get one free? Very glad to hear the Curse of the Ring didn't strike you too.

Thanks Shuffy .....although I had 2 near misses on the 'Ring. A BMW 7 series and a Porsche decided at separate points on the track that despite the fact that there were two machines in one corner they would use all the road......raised the heart rate just a little !

As for the monster.....if she goes in the near future she will be staying in the Club. Otherwise I will probably keep her until next year. All will become clear in due course I guess.

It would be a shame to let her go, she is rather splendid (even with the extra plumbing!).

She has taken me on 3 trips to the continent and never let me down. All she needed when I got back was a good clean and a good dose of lube !

...has she ever been to Interlaken?

I don't think the ring was in any way responsible Frodo.

A gear selector spring and an alternator will have suffered very little extra hardship overr normal road use,
and we were all cruising by trackday standards, since none of us were familiar with the 78 corners.

I will be throwing all my used parts into Mount Doom from now on, just to be on the safe side

he11cat sometimes solo monster seats turn up on ebay. Like the police bike ones. Im presuming that they are for that type of vehicle. Keep your eyes peeled rather than hacking the seat.

thanks for that!!

I love that bike!!!... I couldn't do something that posh . but I like solo seats and the little rack at the back would be perfect.. as I go away weekends a fair bit in the summer... Im used to muddy bum syndrome..

Its a cracking bike!!!!.....
I have a spare seat here ..Id be looking at next year as would have to work hard and play less... lol value baked beans ... happy crapper bread.... ie I need lessons in deep pockets as I already have short arms! lol....
But something along that lines solo seat and back end for stuff.. would be perfect for me!!!
