Hello,

Fot those who're coming to the other side of the channel, here's the meeting point for this year: 50°56'14.73"N - 1°49'02.00"E

It's a parking lot just outside the tunnel premises, fuel station should be nearby.
Cornelius and Tom will be waiting for you. (unfortunately I won't be there due to broken collarbone and my car can't keep up with you guys in acceleration)

Do you allready know an astimated time of arrival?

See you in a few weeks

Thanks Jan, I hope it doesn't hurt too much. I think we are all on the 09:20(UK time) train so should arrive about 11:00 (W.Europe time) Sat 19th Sept.

Perfect. Thanks Jan.
Are we going via Brugge ? We think that might be nice to stop for a beer and chocolate.

And for anyone that doesn't know, when you enter the petrol station once you've left the train, the exit to the station is different from the dual carriageway, so as long as you go into the petrol station you will find the Belgians.

That's it Slob,

@ JP, don't know if we're going to Bruges.
Will propose it to Cornelius and Tom.
One problem though, the center of Bruges with all nice pubs is a no traffic zone, so you will have to carry all luggage and leave the bikes behind. + Bruges is a real bitch to find parking place (even for motorbikes).

Ah, hadn't thought about it like that, very good point.
When I went I was on foot.

If Brugges is a non starter to visit on the way to the hotel, how about Gent? Apparently it has an interesting medeival town centre.

It goes from bad to worse!
The centre of Gent is the largest car free centre in Belgium

We'll figure something out, (Cornelius is the man with plan this year, but he needs to be back on time).

I'll probably be there by car, so I might take some of your luggage (luggage for 14 in a Ford Fiesta, we'll see how that goes) and shoot some pictures during the ride to the Boskapelhoeve.

Cheers J.P its always good to know. Scrapps also offered and very kind. She's not good at trusting many people as she's so used to me. Might be scared now I dumped it LOL. I hope to be riding by next Kent meet so will be able to judge. It may be distance and numbing that may cause issues and fully aware of its not going to be easy fo a while.

And anyway, she might like a bike with proper power... ;)

Hello,

We're going to Diksmuide for a stop and lunch.
There's some stuff to see and visit if you want.

The shoulder is quite ok now, getting better every day.
September 17th is my next check, by then the bones must be grown together.
At the moment Im moving my arm sideways up to about 120°, forwards a little less.
The fysio really helps a lot and those guys are able to bent my arm all the way up (works only if I relax my shoulder).
Next week I'll start working the shoulder with weights.

See you in 3 weeks.

Does anyone have a bed /sofa/floor/garden shed I could use on the Friday night ? The alternatives are a very early start (in darkness) on Saturday morning or a B & B near the Chunnel.

Hoping to see all of you at Calais,

Do you think it's possible to survive the weekend on beer and chocolate alone?

Happy to volunteer to answer this very important question.... ;)

You don't even need the chocolate, ask everyone who has gone to festivals in Belgium :)

We should have 'floor' available Phil, since Duncan has already bagged 'sofa', as long as you don't mind each other snoring.

Hello

Room for one more to come along?

J.P
09-09-2009, 03:17 PM
Plenty of room on this trip but not sure about accommodation when we get there ?
And we're on the 9.20 am Eurotunnel departure on Saturday morning with various times coming back late Sunday night or Monday.

The Belgian club holds just a meet on the Sunday so it is actually a do-able day-trip to get there on Sunday for the 10am start and the 4pm finish.

Room to spare if Scrapps dont mind. I know he wont so it just means you to commit with details so I can inform guest house for breakfasts and how long 2 days or 1 and for you to book your tunnel ticket and tell me what saturday food you want.
