I'd like to express my undying gratitude to Paivi who rode to my rescue on her Vespa this evening.
On the way back from Brands Hatch this afternoon, I managed to drop my 400 Bandit while doing a U-turn having taken a wrong turning, and snapped the front brake lever clean off (so wasn't able to ride any further). While I was stopped at the side of the road working out what to do next (having been told by the AA that the best they could do was charge me over £100 to take the bike to the "nearest AA approved garage) Paivi pulled over to see if she could help.
To cut a long story short, she gave up the rest of her evening to run me back home (nearly 50 miles from where I was stuck, in entirely the opposite direction from where she was headed).
As my other half (who has only been riding a fortnight, and still has L-plates, so couldn't give me a lift on his bike) said, bikers are such nice people!
So a massive thank you to Paivi from me and my other half. As he's been thinking of getting a Monster when he passes his test, maybe we'll be able to say thanks in person at some point in the future. In the meantime, all Monster fans should know what a thoroughly decent person she is.

I am, indeed. Also very sexy. And single... ;)
It was a pleasure to help you guys out, not nice to be stranded in an unfamiliar area on a Sunday night.
All we need now is for Andy to pass his test so he can buy himself a nice 695 and then you'll join this fabulous community!
Albie, shame we didn't bump into each other. I guess I was never in the same place for more than a few minutes at a time... I'm glad you made it to Groombridge, even if it was by car. Hope you'll be fit to ride to the next event.
Has that law changed? I'm sure when I was a teenager, back in the depths of pre-history, a learner could take a full-license holder as a pillion (strangely).

Not anymore, you're only allowed to ride a 125 on your own not a big bike unless the person you are riding with is an instructor but you can take a pillion on a restricted licence but not up till that point.

I was hoping that I would lead you all there as I knew where I was going. Next years in my diary.
