Front Tyre Lock up !

Stupid blind woman pulled across me yesterday and I locked up the front tyre.....I was heading groundwards but somehow managed to recover the situation......(first "almost" since starting biking 6 months ago

Question.....
Should I replace my front tyre after locking it up?
There is a visible mark on the tyre where i skided......
I feel as tho Ive heard that you should, but dont know how serious this is......

The only reason to change the tyre would be if it is damaged or too worn as a result of the lockup. Unless you left a massive amount of rubber on the road, I'd guess it'll be fine. If I was worried, I'd take it to a tyre dealer you trust and get them to give it the once over.

If it is round and doesn't feel like you're riding over a bump every few feet then it's probably fine.

If it worries you that much then try asking a few people..

Do remember a tyre dealers main task in life is to sell tyres

Do you change car tyres after a lock up, er no. If it ain't going ker bumb ker bumb it's fine.
