Hi,

My mechanic has told me my rear shock has collapsed; Im not sure how i havent noticed

He said he has a used part which, when i'm ready (ie have the cash) he will let me have for a couple of hundred plus fitting.

Ive just looked on ebay and there is a company called BROOK SUSPENSION (http://stores.shop.ebay.co.uk/Brook-Suspension-Shop__W0QQ_armrsZ1), based in bradford who specialise in shock absorber refurbishment and repair. They charge £85 plus £10 p+p.

Has anyone used them?
Has anyone had there shocks refurbed?

I dont mind getting my hands dirty and doing my own repairs, in fact i enjoy it (when it goes well) so i'd quite happily do this as it will be about 60% cheaper, meaning i can do it sooner...

Any thoughts/suggestions/experiences appreciated? :hail:

It won't.
also Kato's link shows a shock from a 'non-hoop' Monster (it says 2003, the hoop rear suspension monsters stopped in 2001)

HM Racing in Orpington would be the first place I'd try for suspension rebuilds but they'll be a little more expensive than your eBay guys.

I'd take it as a sign from on high that it was time to buy a decent fully adjustable shock

i have a M600 shock from a 1997 Monster sitting in the shed. replaced it with a brand new Ohlins unit last year. the bike had 10k on the clock when removed and to be fair i only weigh 7 1/2 st so it's not been under any major stress.

let me know if your interested.

This guy is NOT your mechanic, you are his customer, and he thinks your`e the goose that might just lay a golden egg for him.

a couple of hundred is alot for a used one.
I didnt pay a couple of hundred for my Ohlins. it was £250 all in including the £85 rebuild.

you'll probably find that you have a sachs shock which can't be rebuilt anyway.

Blimey! two hundred quid for a used shock?:eek::eek: you should name and shame the thief! If your is a hoop suspension monster isn't that difficult.

I didn't think late shocks would fit early monsters and vice-versa, am I wrong?
