In my experience....

Jules M600 - around 130-140 miles
My M900 - around 120 miles
My M1000DS - anything between 70 and 100 miles depending if I'm in a hurry or not.

It's the only way to know for sure

All bikes vary as to mpg/capacity & when the fuel light activates

Quite hard riding on reserve about 18 miles, run out after the first few rides had to phone the wife to bail me out which both her and my wee girls loved:o

Yep, teach me to read stuff properly....

Revised info...

my 900 - 30 ish miles
my 1000 - as soon as I can find a bloody petrol station as only 10-15 miles if I've been caning it!

I thought maybe 20 - 30 miles, i haven't had the bottle to find out!
As soon as the light comes on, i'm filling up at the next station, i don't want the hassle of running out.
Interesting thread though, nice to know the comparisons between the various models.

I've never left it more than 17 miles on my 695...strangely enough I always seem to be able to only squeeze in 12 litres into the 14 litre tank(even if I fill up after 7 miles :)) so I assume I've got plenty of milage left.

And that's with commuting mostly between first and second, occasionly third gear so not caning it (not sure if that's better or worse for fuel economy?)

Managed 30 miles out of my 900 once and just spluttered into the petrol station.
Never risked it since.

my bike stalled due to lack of petrol for the first time today...luckily it was cos it was still leant over on its stand - was worried for a sec I'd have to push it to the nearest petrol station :). That was after around 18 miles with the fuel light on.

I think filling up with the bike lean't over on its stand is the reason I never get much more than 12 litres in, though I may be wrong? Even though I was only a few minutes ride away I couldnt wait to pull in to the pumps just in case :)

Plastic tanks are thicker & hold less fuel than steel ones, that's why later monsters have less range. Reserve is around 3/4 gallon but fuel light won't always trigger at correct time. I usually wont go more than 20 miles after reserve shows on trike, and that usually comes on between 125-130 miles.

on me way back from france had 136 miles then the light come on.
hence the thread.

I have gone to 115ish miles before filling light was on but could not find a petrol station, I get to 100m and fill up regardless, don't want to run out, I prefer to ride than push.

S4R light comes on between 85 and 100 depending on how hard it's ridden, done 112 miles with sweaty palms before fill up. Considering how angry the motor gets when opened up I am more than happy with 110 miles per tank.

No, me neither due to broken then condemned bike!! Usually though I fill up about every 100 miles (always set trip) as I have no idea whether the fuel light works or not and don't really want to risk it!!

On my IE I managed about 28 miles.
Not tried on the 750, but today
I got to 100 miles waiting for it to come on
110 still waiting for it to come on
120 starting to think it doesn't work
130 begining to worry
140 definitely worried, it's got to be broken
146 chickened out, it's broke, motors going to stop any second, need fuel

Sheesh only managed to fit in 11 litres so I had tons left!! Maybe 4 or so litres.

It's not as if I'm covering ground any slower than on the 600 Yam or the old 750IE, taking the same time in and out of work so my speeds are similar.

Liking this bike :)

LOL Nope Chris... Besides it's yellow you'd hate it LOL
Far as I can see the motor is standard, did the belts at the weekends and the ingnition and valve timings are OK
Gearings standard
Standard air intake, I assume the carbs are too, not looked though.
Motor runs fine and cleanly, and speeds through the gears are about right.
Only oddity is the cored pipes but that's not going to do anything.
Oh and suspensions a mess, working on that.

Might be that I get up to my comfy speed (70-80) and just flow along from there, got enough speed to maintain momentum on a whiff of throttle (1/4 ish) on the level and a lot to spare to keep the same pace up inclines.
LOL I do pussyfoot past the big plod station in Cheltenham, that's just me being kind not wanting to wake them up :spin:

i was just wondering when the fuel light comes on, how many miles can u get out of the bike before it will run out.

I found out how many miles my 695 will do once the light comes on...13.1 :banghead: I was even trying to get another mile out of it as the petrol station wasn't far away.

Tank did a total of 117, good job my wife :hail: could bring me some fuel as I was at the bottom of a hill and didn't want to try and push it to the petrol station. :running:

Then it rained whilst I was waiting. Leathers not good in the rain

My 30 minute journey took 90 minutes altogether, what a muppet. I won't be doing that again.

I've taken mine to 18 miles post light before filling up, and still usually have room for 2 litres-ish in there (though not sure if the bike being on the stand affects this)

I might be more careful in future...

im so glad of this thread, ive ran out of fuel on my monster but no fuel light, nothing nada just died on me. funny thing was id been having issues with the battery and starting so i thought it was that, pushed to a nice local car garage who let me borrow there battery booster, oh how they laughed when I realised there was no fuel in the tank....

now i never risk it, always fill up after any big ride

I managed 24 miles last night. I was trying to reach a Shell garage (to get my loyalty points! :o), passed 3 or 4 BP garages, then ran out.

I had to push 1.3 miles (yes, I checked it on google maps) from Catford down towards Bromley... and where did I end up... another BP garage so STILL didn't get any loyalty points!!! grrrr :Furious:

Lesson leant!

Thought I had more left. Usually get about 100 miles to £10, and have done about 120 ish, so thought (with a 14 litre tank) I had about 2 litres left. :look:

Only managed to get 12.75 litres in, so there was enough in the tank to get me home. Must be the feed location from the tank... :o

Don't you still get nectar points from BP? Have to confess, i've swapped to shell as i find them as cheap, sometimes even cheaper than the supermarkets which is normally considerably less than BP. Never tried to push the mileage once on the light but did get 13 nerve racking miles before finding a sainsbury's (ok, i was desperate) to fill up at.

I still don't know as I'm getting about 130 - 140 miles on 11 litres :D and the lights not come on yet. I do winder if it' working LOL Before anyone asks the ansers no, my happy speed most of the time is 80
My IE would do about 30 once the light came on.. If you were careful. The only time I ran out it had done 24 miles with the nearest garage about 100 yds away on the other side of a busy dual carraigeway in the middle of the morning commute.
