I was in the airport last weekend and picked up a copy of MCN which had loads of leaked (?) info on the new Honda 1200 VFR for release some time in 2010.
As I have a touring bike (Triumph Sprint ST) in addition to my S4R, and this it looked like it ticked all the right boxes as a potential replacment in the future .
I like the fact that it's not a BMW and that it sounds like it will include lots of the electronic gadgetry of a modern day bike.

It looks better in the red though.

Not so sure your guide dog likes it though.:mand::chuckle::look::biggrin:

A solid trans-European tourer with capacity and killer power.
The lead will have to be long for the dog to keep up....

Saw the article and liked what it said about the bike, looks nice too. Seems like a good stablemete to a naked so depending on the price I'm going to have to have a test ride.

Yep, I reckon by the time I load it with all the electric gizmo's I could possibly have, it'll be £10,000-£12,000 ! similar to the BMW K series

Hmmm interesting - I spoke to a guy yesterday who has the sprint - after years with a VFR but the old (current) VFR just doesn't make him smile the way the Triumph does - will be interesting to read those first reviews...

not too keen on the styling, particularly the headlight. the old VFR looks a lot nicer.

I think your about right, so I wonder if having changed the monster this year I should skip a year, or have three bikes - hmmm

The OLD VFR's were nice, brilliant engineering with real good QA ... Honda just boggered the thing up over the years. It was all downhill from the models after the RC30 era

Yeah but it's a Honda and whatever way you look at it it is the spawn of Satan. It may have all the gizmos but it has no soul. People always say that Hondas are the best - THEY ARE ALL WRONG! I rode a honda for my test and it had nothing on my Yam. It was badly made and it felt cold.

Two words - Dani Pedrosa

Nuff Said! :D

But, that's why I'll be keeping two bikes, because there are times when you just need the comfort, capacity & reliability of a long distance cruiser. And for all other times I've my S4R

So the official launch is now out, basic details in MCN.

Gonnna be a heavy bike at 267 kg's vs my current Triumph Strint at 213 kg's. It looks massive.
Powerful bugger though with 170 bph.... :)

Crikey, looks brilliant but reckon that might be too much weight for me, especially once you've got fully loaded panniers and a pillion on...

Still, will get a demo on one anyway! :)

Yeah, imagine dropping that in the car park and trying to pick it up....

I've had four Blackbirds one i bought new the rest second hand, i also had a new 96 VFR me and the wifey have been all over Europe on them i've never been let down once in the thousands of mile's we've done on them, i'll definatly be looking at the new one. my wife is bike mad, pilion only, but refuses point blank to get on the monster she hates it after bringing it home from London.

It got some good comments from the test rider as well (although from memory I think he worked for Honda) so I feel compelled to give it a test at some point

Not overstruck with the looks either. Doesn't look like a pillion tourer to me.

Having had a blackbird which was 233kg - and loving every minute of it - I have to say I'd be tempted to test ride!!!

is that a 'wheelie' bar on the back?
not impressed with the looks, a bit hit and miss with the fairing missing at the bottom where it meets the belly pan, but at least it won't break down or go wrong.
I guess that if you want to tour etc, it would be great

Ugly, ugly, ugly........

Might turn out to be a good bike though, but the K1300S is a better looker (IMHO) and has that awesome front end (FACT).

On the other hand, the latest Pan looked like it might be a good bike, and turned out to be lethal. Literally. Let's hope that doesn't happen again.

Had a VFR quite a few years ago, you just dialled in the cruise speed and let it slam on till you ran out of fuel. Was a heavy bugger though and evil evil evil to work on, luckily it never needed much doing but oil and plug changes.
