Well now both bikes have gone its time to start modding. Not too much but the usual things. I have made a start today with hopefully a bargain compared to DP parts prices. Just got a carbon front sprocket cover. They are different shape to the usual monster a good marketing ploy by Ducati there then:cry:

It was a buy it now price so no bidding at £39.99 which compared to ducatis £79.99 is a bargain.
Not sure whether to leave doing the pressure plate and cover until after the first service. I have these items already.
Most importantly is the crash bungs on front wheels and frame. Im looking at the R&G site and around the £110 and a bit for both. If anyone knows of a site cheaper can you let me know but for 696/1100 .
The exhausts I really want to do. Waiting on a set.

really annoyed at myself as I was watching the sale of top carbon fibre tank keyguard piece retailing at over £180. Forgot to log on yesterday and went for £50 1 bid.:cry:

You could get a set of these for the frame (simply bolt to it):

Barracuda Crash Bungs (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Tamponi-Paratelaio-Barracuda-Ducati-Monster-696_W0QQitemZ280322436106QQcmdZViewItemQQptZRicamb i_e_Accessori_Moto?hash=item414484ec0a&_trksid=p4634.c0.m14.l1262&_trkparms=%7C301%3A1%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A30)

You can get some discrete fork protectors that look like your bar-ends from JHP for about £15.

If you go for the carbon hugger, you can get a complimentary carbon chain guard that finishes the job off nicely from carbonworld.de

No it wasnt and am very interested in seeing the quality. Its says its aviation quality and better than dp but will wait and see. For the price I hoping its a good deal. Its also stated as UV stabilised so no fading.:D

Im not so sure about them frame ones. In the end I have got the R&G aero shaped ones and the front fork ones. Not bothering with swing arm as wont be able to use paddock stand without unbolting it.
Cost me £117 but the forks alone are £1500 + so well worth it. Never had them on any bike but always say you should so I have.
Will take a look at hugger. It was last on my list as it looks ok for now but just noticed the chain exit guard and yes would look better in carbon.

Thanks for all advice guys.

Got frame and front axle ones.

After the service came the ride home with some new bits and some cr4ppy weather for 200 miles. A 2 hour clean bought her back and some new bits came out the cupboard with some more this coming week. Yep more carbon as I need to now get the weight back down as the crash protectors added quite a bit.
The clutch cover was removed for the anodised JHP pressureplate and rizoma clutch cover which I have modified with a carbon fibre 5 pointed affair. 3mm just cut to shape and filed smooth. I just need to relaquer it now.

The carbon fibre tank top and lower protecter were on the wish list and I got sucked into buying them yesterday. What is it with some mechanics cant put things on properly. I had to take it off when got home as the rubber seal gasket was poking out 3-4mm in places and none in others. :Furious: Took me 10 minutes to sort .

Looking good!

A word of warning though, watch that clutch hose as it looks like it's touching the casing. Mine was and the braiding wore right through the laquer and paint down to bare metal. I'm getting a replacement under warranty.

Just in case, I bought some 6mm electrical spiral binding which I've wrapped around it, so it won't chafe any more, as well as having the hose slightly moved away from the casing.

I sweated a bit and got them for a song if not a dear song £670 and I also got the carbon fibre headlamp cover for £55 saving me around £35 and exhausts saved over £200. If I outbid that 1 person Im sorry I wanted them more than you obviously . I went up to £800 but no-one re bid. I know Natty Boy did I think. PM him he may be able to help. You may be able to tuck under rad ends. I think you have to remove the plastic bolts which hold the two fans on and they sandwich the mesh.

That would clamp the mesh in direct contact with the radiator fins, not a good idea.

Well today was nearly my birthday as 2 pressies to pick up and still more to come soon.
I picked up my brand spanking new Termignonis and kit all in a nice box in bags which I paid £670 for. A bargain for them and they are now fitted but not the ECU or airfilter. I attempted to see but the limited time I had , it seems its a tank off job. I will get Pro Twins or maybe the local guys in strood maybe .
I also got the carbon fibre headlamp cover on. Ab fab and its a looking better everytime I go in the garage. Now I need that tail tidy.
Im leaving the decibel killers in for now.The looks enough for me at moment.

All of a sudden having one bike is getting easier. I dont have a choice and dont feel guilty .

Albie
15-07-2009, 05:15 PM
Well the rest of the exhaust kit is being fitted this saturday locally down the garage that someone recommended. Pro Team ducati in strood. I take it this is ok as its only exhausts.

I dont really fancy even if I know I can do it , take off the tank and fit new airfilter and ecu for someone to plug the machine in and tweak it. Who designed this bike that needs a tank removing for an airfilter change

Anyhow its good to give some business locally. They wont service bikes under 2 years old for the warranty.

Will run fine without them, all other exhaust run without them! the difference they make is very small but will smooth things out and stop the exhaust from closing.the setup bit is only the throttle position sensor if adjustment is required.oh and dont put the db killers in thats just rude !!

I have refrained from the loo seat. As much as its nice its a waste literally. They do light fittings/ plate switches. door knobs/levers and knockers. letter boxes. Its just so expensive . Formula one goes mad for it as you see anything made in the stuff for a laugh I think. They probably have brooms and cups etc. Its obsessive to a degree like shoes to a woman.

I got home today from the meet and set about seeing if the Rizoma Fluid Pots would fit without me spending more money on bracketry.

I successfully fitted without having to blled them as I have some pipe crimps so no air gets in the pipes.

Im happy with the Brake but the clutch fluid level window faces the wrong way. I may have to source some new pipes with the ability to flex better or have preformed bends.

Happy they look better anyway and not plastic. The original Brake ones always get paint rot.

I wonder if anyone knows of the possibility of some angled pipe fittings or pipe with 90 bends preformed or some different pipe.

Albie

Yes they fit but you would have faced a similar problem that they are universal to all bikes but the pipe work doesnt fit properly to be neat.

Will silicon pipe like Samco Hose stand up to brake fluid or stainless braided fuel line.

I must thank you John for giving me the oppertunity of first dibs on the seat and rearsets.Yes it cost me some money and 4 hours travelling 270 miles but it will make my bike look so much nicer. Its sad to lose a monster from the club but no doubt the new owner will appear but fact is that you get another duke and I get the chance to get a bargain.

Thanks mate.:ukm::biggrin:

Yes folks I have some more carbon fibre but only can use when the missus not on the bike. Yep thats rare :grump::grump::biggrin:

Also have to buy rizoma pillion pegs now too.:grump::grump:

Thanx mate. I didn't actually realise that the white on it is the ducati white like mine. I thought it may be white vinyl or paint. Im thinking things you know.:biggrin:

Maybe them carbon panels on ebay.aus and get them painted on the sides white with a red pinstripe with ducati through the natural carbon. Oooooh missus more expense but it will have to wait a few months. £200 for rear pillion pegs :grump::grump:

Them there rearsets look the dogs doodahs............ Am I a happy chappy. Strange thing is the hard side to take off yesterday was easy to put on and the easy side we took off was a pain to put on. That side stand hole shifted a bit. Doh!! and I lent my paddock stand to scrapps Doh !!!!

Still all done and the seat looks fab. Ordered the passenger pegs today so Caroline will be able to come along to next meet at the expense of £203 :hissy::hissy:

Its a price too pay for excellance in the looks department imho and never had any proper rearsets other than the 748 were rearward. Ive waited a long time for getting a fantastic Monster and its getting rather special to me. Its seven years and a week since I got my m900 and I dont regret a thing.

Pleased or what :biggrin::biggrin::biggrin:

I would also like to say that there are many guys on this site that I inspire too and have been in awe of the bikes they have and made over the years. Names like Kato, AK , slob, grunter, jmo, crust and pomp for his classic monster and others who take stock and make something different. I hope it can be seen that although this new breed that not everyone likes , is becoming liked and admired for its look with a little bit effort.

The important bits arrived today for the woman in my life. Actually look ok on a damn sight more attractive than the standard setup which I always hated.

The pillion pegs were £203 :eyepopping::eyepopping: but you get a specially made new engine bolt so you can bolt into the end. They also take a minute to remove for solo.

So Benson your comments are now history and Im very glad to have rid of them

Someone gave me the heads up on a full set of Carbon Vani Tank panels sides top and back on ebay secondhand 3 days old. I badgered for a buy now as would have been at work when sale ended so I have been entrapped and now skint. Project 1100s cf has moved another step forward. Now I just need some pearly paint.

Pressie arrived today care of ebay. I was bidding against somebody so whoever your were TOUGH you missed out . The panels are all Carbonvani which is who make some Ducati Performance stuff and they also made my seat unit which is why I wanted them. The seller only had them on bike for 3 days and had to regretfully sell bike so are virtually new.

I was going to paint them over in part, but now I've seen them on I may not as the decals were obviously an extra as they are laquered over.
I just think I need some blacked or titanium screws as the stainless domed look a bit bright.

Very happy with the result and a relatively cheap way to go dark. Yes really !! Paint is dear.

I wont hold it against you mate. Had to tell Caroline tonight. She was fine and even like the look. TBH it does look better in the flesh. The camera tends to flash to much light. I really want some paint on them in the future.

Thanks for the heads up though. Will hopefully only cost me £250 then...

Hmm yes but nowhere near as stealth looking as a 848. Just been out in the garage for a cardboard box to pack sold stuff in and ended up wiping the rain off and staring at it. Its in the flesh you see beauty unless you have a really good camera of course. I really need someone to take some professional pics next year.
