Sorry not a Ducati question but thought you guys might be able to help :look:

My neighbour's Kwaki ER5 blows the 10A fuse everytime you turn the ignition on. The lights, horn etc all work but obviously the bike won't fire up due to the ignition fuse blowing (the main 30a for the starter is fine but the starter won't turn due to the ignition circuit) - any suggestions of what it could be

She was riding it OK with no probs and then it just died on her and now the fuse keeps blowing :Furious:

Thanks :D

a short in the circuit somewhere! try disconnecting certain things one by one or put a stronger fuse in?? i know this may go through them very quickly, it's either that or take it to a garage.

So its a short somewhere and as it blows instantly somethings dropping 15+ amps so its a big load or a short to earth.
Assuming that when you switch on all of the lights are off.... Then the only thing actually powered up ought to be the CDI. Usually tough but can react badly to over volts or spikes. £50 from a breaker or £250ish from Kwak. The regulator could have failed which could give a dead short and be more than enough to pop the fuse.

They don't have a hard wired light do they (?) in which case check the power to the feed out for shorts.
