I am looking for a route that is mainly non motorway. Anyone got any suggestions? I don't mind some motorway, say, 100 miles worth....

Went through Lille from Calais last year. It's supposed to be much better than going through Belgium. I'm going again later this year and have already started a bit of research, the Lille route is preferred by most other people I have spoken to.

That looks like a great route. I guess you've got to take in some motorway to get the lions share of the journey out of the way on the A26. The a26 is supposed to be heavily policed with a joint venture between the UK (Kent) and France watching this road.

I've put together an alternative that is exactly the same length and time that you may have considered yourself. Gets you off the a26 just a bit earlier. I guess it's handy to have an alternative.

Are you going on the monster?

I'm planning to go to the ring in the 1st week of September. I can't imagine the Monster is the best tourer in the world. A GS is more more of a mile cruncher.

Should be good - let me know how you get on and if there are any roads of particular interest.
