S2r 800 rev counter pick up question

Does the rev counter on a s2r800 pick up it's signal from the coil? Thanks!

Have just looked at S2R manual and in the ignition/electric system diagram it references Timing/RPM sensor. Hope this helps with your question.

(this is a question in respect of me accidently grinding some wires that feed the coil and then my finger!!)

I am getting movement in my rev couter its just that it rests at about 5 o clock so even if I give it some I barely register 1000 rpm,

can anyone shed any light on the rev counter issue, I don't think its the coil as the bike is running perfectly and there was still some wires connected post grinding!

Also do fingers grow back?

Frmo memory, the signal wire is blue with a white tracer, unless its an early one in which case it ought to be green.
Wiring diagram will be on the internet
Fingers, replace with fish fingers
