Hi guys can I just say that officially this seems not to be the official Kent meet as its the second sunday. I hope we can still do this as I will not be able to make second sunday 14th as have to work Sat/Sun every 5 weeks now. No doubt this will cause me aggro with stuff booked like my birthday but think belgiums ok. I will still pop in for a cuppa and brekky probs next month.

SO in short NEXT SUNDAY trip to Wessons cafe. Sunday 7th June
So whose coming

I should be ok for the 7th but will hang on to see what weather brings. A trip down to Wessons in rain does not appeal much TBH. By the way did everyone know the bike shop has gone from Wesson's now, it was cleared to make more room for the cafe.

As for 14th - I should also be up for this if we revert to an Oakdene meet

Its June GT we dont have rain in June and no I didnt realise they had lost the shop. I guess the cafe makes more sense and more money.

If this is wessons in Horam I might pop along as I'm only down the road in Hailsham.

What time are you likely to be there?

Might not be on the monster though as I need to fix a fork seal. Saying that, I'd better get another post up here about that.

Cheers.

Hi. Is any one still planning on going to Wessons on the 7th ? Have been up to meet Rob at Fat Boys Diner today (a bit wet in places to say the least !) and judging by the forcast more of the same tommorrow ! Just wondering as I don't want to ride there on my lonesome!

I'll head for Oakdene and see what its like there at 10.

Copied from the new monster thread...

Latest metcheck forcast for Sunday is heavy showers for Kent, with less rain predicted for West Sussex. So it looks like weather should improve the further South West we go. If it's not lashing down in the morning I'll head for lay-by meet as planned, and make sure I pack the waterproofs in case we get dumped on.

http://www.metcheck.com/V40/UK/FREE/...ode=TN21%200ER

Spoke to Ladybob for some time on phone today. Have some news and things to discuss with Kent section, so hope to meet some of you for run in the morning. Fingers crossed for dry(ish) roads.

As Alan said it was overcast & drizzling here around 8.30. But it's cleared up in the last hour and the suns out with roads drying out fast. I've just dragged trike out of garage and it's really warm now suns broken through. I'll head to layby and see what consensus is on Wessons run - maybe just a brekkie at the Oakdene's a better plan for today? We can always re-schedule the Wessons trip later in the season.

Sandra is hunting down near Crawley in Sussex, and texted to say it's been sunny there since about 8 am. Looks like better weather and dry roads will be found if we do head South West?

Thanks guys and girls for a great ride out. Thats M1100S ahemm !;) What started as a depressing morning waking up to the rain and it turned out glorius day. Blue skies and a few clouds. Thanks to all new guys Ryan and Big Oz for turning out again. Its so nice to have new guys with us and also bringing the new breed monster with us. I know it was a gamble but it paid off and although the brekkie was nice it was not the value of Oakdene or the quantity. Nice venue though and the roads were very pleasant. It was nice to lead you there especially as Im running in. I was abit unsure of that right turn after the temporary lights that leads direct to Horam. Glad it did and was much shorter if not very DARK:on:
Saw Manda at Wessons and another red 696. Who was he ??
Great to see Susan and Miles and was a pleasant surprise. Glad your back on the bike Susan. And thanks for leading us home. I would have followed you back past your house and on to Leeds Castle but Alan just kept going to Maidstone. Sorry Big Oz you got caught out and no doubt you got home no problem.
Good to see Alan loving riding your new S2r and I bet it feels great.
Ryan I have to say your bike looks great with narrow cans and that tail tidy. That looks like another job on the list .
Well another 100 miles on the clocks so 405 to service. It was very comfy that touring seat and caroline said it was better than she remembered on the demo bike. Bike handled great two up and was very pleasurable. Got a bit dirty but nice and clean now.
Thanks all and maybe if you have a brekkie next week at oakdene than I may just join you for that.

Great run today guys & the weather was surprisingly good in the end. Nice to run into Miles, Susan and Manda at Horam. Good choice of roads that were well led by Albie outward and Miles homeward, managing to cover about 90miles in total. Hopefully the weather will settle down this season and we'll manage to get more of the same.

Nice to see Susan is now in good health and back on two wheels again

Got a missed call on my mobile from Shuffy to say he was trying to meet us today, but I didn't pick his message up until we got to Wessons. Think he missed us at the Oakdene by about 20 mins - oh well Chris better luck next time eh?

Head count was Albie, Caroline, Alan C, Ryan H, Andy (bigOz) & Me + Miles & Susan at cafe. A few shots from Wessons car park...

Hi. Thanks to everyone for the ride out today, had a nice time. Nice to see the new M1100 (too quick and powerfull for me though !) Still haven't got rid of my cornering phobia as I was working up a sweat on the way back and still not keeping up with the guys and gals in front ! Guess it is just more patience and practice ! Look froward to Oakdene for Brekkie next weekend !

Hi Ron you see this is now going to happen like fools and horses Dave. No I promise I wont. Easy mistake from first time someone meets a new face.

1100 not too powerful Ryan honest. I ride like a tart at times and Im no fast cornerer. No doubt gary will vouch for that. I really enjoyed the ride and the new style seems to let you turn in easier. Make sure you ride comfortable and please dont think that you have to keep up if you feel uncomfortable. Part of the reason I buy a big engine is that 1) I can easily carry pillion , 2) That I can catch up on the straights when im slow around corners.
I used and still do the same but I try to relax and it all seems to flow again. I also find leading much more easy than following.

Only joking about the name! Have been called Ron and Bryan by loads of people in the past and have just got used to it. With regards to the cornering I just need to reprogram my brain from all the years of driving the tin box round and the only way of doing this is to ride out more with others to get more confidence I guess ! By the way thanks for the great photo of me with my eyes shut !

Ryan, I had to work hard to keep up too, you looked nice and smooth from where I was on the way back and those pipes of yours sound great as you open it up on the way out of the corner.

Had a great day, I'd been down all week looking at the weather forecasts thinking it was going to be unpleasent and it turned out just like bank holiday Monday.

No problem Albie, it was my fault. I wasn't sure I could make it today so I didn't put a post up yesterday. When I got up it was tipping it down and it looked like it was going to be cancelled, so I went back to bed. Only when I surfaced well after 10 (bright sunshine now) I read Gary's post, but by the time I eventually got up to the Oakdene it was gone 11 and I'd missed you. Anyway, glad you had a good run and your new bike looks fab. Not sure if I can make next Sunday, but hopefully catch up with you all soon.

Glad everyone was able to keep up with my little Aprilia, with all of 48 bhp at the crank, and Susan's clunky old Boneville! :bunny:

Ryan, it sounds to me like you've got the technique - Tail-ender GT said it all looked OK - so you just need more practice to gain confidence... Monsters (and Pegaso's) are great handling bikes, so just think ahead and keep it smooth.

Miles
