Hi guys and girls. I will start this thread too see the preferred route you want to take. Listening to the talk at the weekender it may be the channel tunnel option this year as it seems to be quicker. Better for me coming home sunday nite. I know the ferry was great last year as it gave us a chance to meet and greet those whom we didnt know face to face but it was a second choice due to the fire. Hopefully that wont happen again and also some MOB guys will meet us for ride down. Jan I believe has said he will arrange something.

I'd suggest a train time between 9.00am-10.00am on Saturday 19th Sept., just so we don't all have to get up with the Larks.

Albie Tunnel sat/sun 8-9.59 return 21-21.59 £31.00

That ticket I presume cover between 8.00 and 10.00. Seems good to me.

I can't get £31 pound in any way. I get nearer £51.

I think so its 17 out and 14 back. Overnight which is now allegedly 2 days. Not short stay saver

J.P
12-05-2009, 10:19 AM
ok, yes, just the one night stay is cheap, £31, but two night stay is about £51.

Why don't we suggest the 9.20 or 9.50 departure on the Saturday to start the target train.
I'd suggest the 9.50, up to you

Yeah, I vote chunnel :)
I was knackered by the time we got there and the travel sickness wasn't great either :D
4am was not something that previous existed from the morning side.

I would prefer to travel a a slightly slower pace than blurred scenery, not sure how the shoulder is going to hold up to the wind (the other one was sore last time from the previous off). That's my 2p :)

Albie,

I want to stay Saturday/Sunday night, and travel back on Monday morning. I hardly ever get abroad on the bike/trike these days, so want to make the most of trip. Booking holiday for Monday shouldn't a problem, provided I get it sorted ASAP.

Looking to have 2 wheels to use by September so Tunnel won't be a problem cost-wise

Stafford
12-05-2009, 09:24 PM
Grumpy and I hope to have been down to the Alps and some WSB the preceding week, so we'll meet you guys there and travel back on Monday.

J.P

Staff, if you haven't been to the Alps before, let me know if you'd like any info, as I was there last July.

Hi to those who are coming. Just a post as Lous Cannon asked the question about booking. I know theres no panic but I gues we should all decide on either a majority of peeps crossing time and others who have different plans maybe the day before as Slob and Thuli did.
So here are the names on the hotel room list who are commited albeit a problem.

Albie and Caroline Tunnel 9.00
Stafford (believe meeting us there)
J.P
Gary T
Grumpy (believe meeting us there)
Shuffy
Ladybird
Logyk
LouSCannon
Alan C
Slob and Thuli
Rollo

One other thing. Does anyone fancy a tee shirt for the occasion. I have some plans.

LouSCannon
18-05-2009, 06:11 PM
I'll be tagging along with you Albie, considering I'm on your sofa night before! You confirmed on the 9AM?

And yes, I think a t-shirt would be great.

Albie
18-05-2009, 06:59 PM
you will probs be in the spare room . Hopefully our spare room will remain our spare room

I'm got some days off after the Belgium trip and I'm thinking of heading off into the German mountains for another 3 or 4 days if anyone's interested.

LouSCannon

For all the happy travellers, I spoke with the B & B today and they're happy to wait for me to pay the full amount of the room cost when we checkout, because they can't take the deposit from my credit card on its own. Result. So no need to worry until the trip itself about paying me the money back.
Obviously a little currency exposure in the meantime but should all equal out in the end.

Hi all,
Like last year we're planning to do a meeting at the "Groene Wandeling" for dinner.
I hope that everybody can tell me what they're planning to eat?
Flemish Stew - Vol au Vent or Horse Beef? So I can tell the lady of the restaurant...

If there are some special requests let me know... Also an ice cream on sunday can be arranged like we did last year?

Just let me know or Jan Baetens...

See you all on the 20th of sept!!!!

Right were all sorted unless someone hasn't told me. I have emailed requests including Logyk's to Sven so we can close this one down. As we nearer to the date we can post up a thread to meeting times and points and whose available to put people up from far away. A separate thread. If anyone needs the euro badges I will once again make some as I now need one for new bike.
If anyone hasn't told me or posted they haven't booked train Im presuming you have also Im presuming Gadget has made arrangements to stay somewhere as not been told.
