Man that will make you ar5e rumble. I hate the 696/1100 exhausts and am hoping they will bring an underslung one the double stacks like the s4r for the m1100. Cant see the point of singlesiding it otherwise. Have you seen any other than the short ones we saw in Belgium

I really like the bottom picture one, makes it look very neat.

An you could always get someone to make you one up Albie.
The guy who made my exhausts in Sevenoaks does that sort of thing.
Campbell Custom Exhausts.

Yes, that looks very nice, very neat.

But to me it looses part of the identity of a Monster - Twin side mounted cans......

But then I like odd things.....

To be honest, the second one looks like a twin exit car tail pipe - reckon you could get one in Halfords...

I agree with Seby, I think the cans need to be slightly longer, or else they are going to fill up with water/crap from the rear tyre, hugger or not...

the straight pipes look great!

does anyone have any experience of these pipes or others like 'em? there was a thread of a company in the states doing some that came out from under the swing arm and there were some on ebay that were simliar sort of thing but cant find it now. I want something like this for my 696.

Also, is it true that the ducati warranty is void if you fit anything other than termis as these are the only ones they recommend? it wouldn't surprise me...

I guess as the designer and the manufacturer of this exhaust, I should chime in....
To answer a few questions that some of you posed, I will do my best to explain some of the why did they do this....

The straight pipes were influenced by the famous "Monza Tip" that comes from the automotive world. We had one laying around the shop and stuck it on the bike and it looked and sounded awesome.....okay there is step one.

As for why we did not run the exhaust to the end of the tail....Physics..The major problem faced by an under seat exhaust for the 696 is wheel travel. If we extended the exhaust any further, it would cause catastrophic handling issues when your spring rate went to 180,000 lbs.... So that is why it ends where it does. Don't get me wrong, I love the look of the M-16 exhaust, but it is not practical.

As for the sound, there is mufflers and baffles that are in the box and they sound like any other Termi, QD, Leo Vince, etc.

Now for the biggest advantage over any 696 exhaust on the market......WEIGHT. The stock exhaust weighs 14.6 lbs. the Termis an other exhaust weigh about 8 lbs....Since we remove most of the weight from the mid-pipe, our exhaust weighs 3.8 lbs total.

After testing the bike in the twisties this weekend, The bike feels even more lighter with all the weight removed from up high and at the end of the bike.

Hopefully that explains some of the crazy things that we did, or at least makes us Yanks look a little less like halfwits...

Any additional feedback or suggestions is greatly appreciated.

Kindest Regards,
Ryan Hampton

Oh and here it is in black.....LOL

Ryan, thanks so much for chipping in with your comments.
We forget sometimes that design has to give in to practical application from time to time.

I think it looks great.

I'm liking the black!

can you give us an idea when either of these will be avaliable and how many spondulies you would take of us to have a set of these great pipes on our 696.

thanks in advance

Agree with everyone that these look spot on. Really cleans up the lines of the bike. One question . Does the seat heat up in traffic? Even with standard exhausts, the seat can warm up a fair bit.
WOuld love an exhaust like this, but being a law abider, its a shame you couldn't get them homolgated etc.

To save Ryan typing again. The answers.

The heat directly above the exhaust box is not the problem. The real heat issue is where the exhaust gasses exit. It does get a bit hot back there. If you are running the DP tail chop, you will have to add a heat shield there. If you have the Comp Werks kit that is aluminum it is not a problem. I rode around town with the exhaust with no problem. However, we went for a hard ride (constant 7000rpm+) in 108 F heat this weekend and observed a slight warping of the plastic DP kit. So yes, I understand this exhaust is not everyone's cup of Earl Grey, but we want to bring different options for people to make a bike thier own. As far as the fueling it is not a problem as we have close to the same back pressure as stock. We have not touched the airbox yet. We have 5 different baffle systems we are trying out on the dyno next week so we will actually have real world numbers for folks. The midpipe is being made by an existing exhaust company and we will be E3 compliant in the near future with this system. Oh and the exhaust system is engineered by a limey...LOL

They're American gasman, these things are very relaxed post registration (especially in Arizona, where you can register pretty much anything there) and there are no 'MoT' tests either... 'homologation' would also have to include catalytic converters these days ,and cost thousands of pounds to put through the bureaucracy sorry, I mean administration.

That said, there is nothing stopping you putting a custom exhaust on your bike, as long as it isn't marked 'not for road use' or 'race use only' etc. - no markings is fine, it is still down to the jurisdiction of the MoT tester regarding noise (something you won't need to worry about for three years still), and if anyone asks, it's a 'factory exhaust' - after all, it was made in a factory, right?
