I'm going to clean up a few parts, prime and then spray paint them. I've read in the past about baking the parts (metal obviously) in the oven to harden the paint.

If this is recommended, what temperature and for how long?

Thanks.

would be great if someone could answer this question before the end of the day, i have just finished priming some bits ready to spray them, and would be interested to know if this tactic will work before i put them back on.....

depending on the paint used, if the paint is still full of solvent, it will boil out and ruin the finish.

also found this little snippit for you: http://www.volkszone.com/VZi/showthread.php?p=4620917

could use a hair dryer but i'd be inclined to leave it or just put your bit's (easy...) on top of the boiler.

Ok thanks, that’s the end of that idea then.

Don't know if you still need the advice but I put painted parts in the oven at 80°c for 20 minutes. Then a second layer and again in the oven.

I chuck mine in my Aga after doing all the painting. But its only on casings where ive used engine enamel. Came out lovely.
