ok so i may be able to lay my hands on a 98 m750 engine reasonably cheap.

I have been thinking of putting a bigger engine in my bike (95 m600) as a bit of a project, I believe it is doable and that all the mounting points are the same, the question is how straightforward is it?

The engine i am looking at does not necessarily have carbs, so could i make my current set work with a jet kit and some tinkering, or would i need another set of carbs aswell?

are there any incompatible electrics, or was the 98 engine also a fairly basic system without complex ECU type thingummies?

also does the 750 have a dry clutch?

many thanks in advance

The carbs are the same however re-jetting would do the trick. Same mounting points for the engine and the loom is the same as well (As long as it is carbed to carbed)!

no, i didn't know enough about the condition of the engine so i set myself a limit of £100 would have been the ebay bargain of the century, but it went for £150 quid in the end.

slightly dissapointed, i would have paid £150 for it, but didn't want to get stuck in a bidding war and end up paying too much for a knackered engine that needs lots of work.

on the plus side i did lay my hands on some 2001 s4 clocks that i hope to make work with my bike, not sure if it is possible yet, but at £30, worth a punt and they can always go back on the bay if no good.

You could probably adapt the clock housings to you Monster, but im not sure about the clocks.

You could use your own speedo and get an aftermarket tacho?? Someone with better knowledge will be along soon!

Shame about the engine, although good idea about setting yourself a limit!

What he said, and you'll need an oil cooler as well as the 750 has one, but the 600 doesn't.
