thinking about getting some more bling type mirrors for my s2r 1000. BUT I want the mirrors to work (ie not just give me a nice view of my elbows) as well as look cool so I can spot people trying to kill me/blue flashing lights etc etc. so nothing tiny or that just vibrate or stop me filtering...

Anyone got any tips? been frightening my credit card by looking at the rizoma site, but if it comes to it I will pay what's needed, but don't want to spend loads of money and then find they are no good from a practical viewpoint.

Do the bar end mirrors that sit inboard work? Or are they not really high enough? Should I be looking at regular position ones? And any thoughts on round versus teardrop shape?

grateful for any advicce/views from those who have tried different mirrors, thanks...

Have a look at mine here

The mirrors are Rizoma and work well. For the same item at a more reasonable cost, Motrax now do a copy of these for about half the price

nice. and the bike's not bad either! These were one of the ones I was considering as they sit inboard and look a reasonable size/shape....

thanks for fast reply. signing off for now, but will pick up any further views/thoughts tomorrow if anyone else has advice to offer...

I've just bought this (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1-x-Pair-of-Black-Teardrop-LED-Indicator-Mirrors_W0QQitemZ320350491714QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK _Motorcycle_Parts?hash=item320350491714&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1683%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C 240%3A1318) as the bloke is local to me(pick up saved me a few quid) and for that price you can't turn them down. quality is good for the money

The thing I like about the standard mirrors is that they're very good for filtering, and they work ok if you bend your arms in a bit ;)

If they made the same in non black plastic I might go for them

What about the DP mirrors? I have them on my 620 and they look great. I don’t think any are going to have as good a rear-view as the originals though.

ditto

Bought the copys of the Rizoma bar ends as they cost half as much.
They are produced by them I guess:

Ordered from an online shop in Germany for 67 € shipped called bad-bikes.de.
Got them ten minutes ago, they are made of aluminum and seem rock solid.
The black finish is perfect, and two shims with different diametres are
provided to either mount them on the bar or without shims on bar ends.

Pedro, your bike looks awesome , I will probably end up making my Monster even darker.

Thanks for the posts - anyone else got advice on cool mirrors that also work?

I have the mini barend mirrors on mine, similar to the oberons, I find they work OK as long as your aware of their limitations. I have also tried the larger barend style that seems more common and really wouldn't recommend them or rather I'd suggest you steer clear of any mirror that has a convex glass bezel for a so called 'better view'. All this does is make the rear view much smaller and very much harder to read to the point of making the mirror useless as a functional piece. The ones I have at the moment have flat glass, they take a bit of setting up to get the correct view rearward but I find they work better even accounting for the much smaller glass area.

I also had DP teardrops and liked those, they do give a good view of your elbows but you get into the habit of moving your arm if you look in the mirror.:p

I fitted a pair of 3" barend CRG "Hindsight LS" on my S2R 1000, no vibration & the folding feature is great!
