Does anybody know what/where the 33 hp restricter is on a 696? Some one mentioned it may be a plate rather than the usual washer clip thingy?

is it easy to remove?

ahhh it could be a throttle restrictor which is very easy to remove/bend out of the way :) look down the throttle cable and you should find the end which will have a small plate over it to stop it from opening fully

Ah yes i think i have found it! its attached to the throttle cable bracket on the engine casing and also another bolt going into the engine casing. £100 for a bent bit of galv steel!!!

this would be easy to remove if it had normal hex nuts or even an allen key, but, it has coned ends:nash:??? Any idea of how these can be removed? there might be some way behind these if i remove a few bits and get a better look or maybe i have totally the wrong part?

the reason i want to remove it is i don't think i can last a year and half on a restricted license so may go back and redo test before it changes next month, there for need to ride to the test centre legally and then do my test on a bike exceeding 48hp with L plates. doing it on mine would save £40/50, cost of hire a 500cc and be escorted to the test centre by an instructor. All thought the instructor said just dont let them see you turn up and there no way they'll know its restricted!!!

but still have to remove it at some point.....

I know how you feel. I actually did wait it out for two years and kept the restrictor on like a good boy. Made the transformation all the more special when it finally came off (i just snapped mine off - I had a bonnie at the time). However, I'm not totally sure of the merits of restriction etc - while it was definitely good to 'work my way up', starting with a moped, then a 125, then 33bhp etc, two years was a bit too long, and in fact I probably went a bit daft when it finally came off, and found the jump quite a shock! Having said that, I'm still captain slow now so maybe it did help!

worst comes to worst bend it out of the way! paperwork says you have a restricted bike :D

how would they check that its not 33bhp as long as your not doing 120mph and get caught :(
