Burning sheep, blockading ports, etc. etc.

The French government has recently tried to introduce tights control over the "customising" (or modifying from standard) motorbikes. This resulted in a lot of unhappy French bikers, which in turn resulted in the threat of mass bike protests, which resulted in the French goverment retracting the proposed new legislation. French, being French, kept the mass protests just to remind the government that bikers are numerous in France and annoying them is not a good idea :on: :twak:

I took part in one of the "manifestations" today at Le Mans a small gathering of over 3000 bikes riding with minimal police escort through Le Mans to park up in front of the "Palais de justice" where many tyres were smoked and many thousands of exhausts resounded to the tune of bouncing off the rev limiters. My S4 was one of over 20 Monsters I saw today along with literally every type of bike you could name of think of

So when are us Brits going to actually stick up for our (or rather now your, as I've left) rights. 50mph limits, speed cameras growing out of everywhere, humps and naff road conditions, the list goes on and on......... :dunce:

Well done, do you think they'd come over and show us wimpy Brits how to do it?

A most impressive show of force which got a result. All good natured and no one got arrested or hurt. The car drivers which were stopped for us all waved us on with a thumbs up or V (not the UK one) biker's sign

You'll be pleased to know that I was proudly wearing my UKMOC T-shirt which along with the UK reg plate got noticed by a fair few with several enquiries.

The difference is that the French government listens to it's citizens.

Listening to it citizens is not and never will be on the agenda of this government.

Exactly what I was gonna say Capo...over here there would be arrests and an unfavourable result...who knows...maybe someone should do some rallying of the troops...

Well in the united kingdom, we are so apathetic.

Look at the bike parking charges thing in Westminster, so much apathy its amazing. Too many people think it doesn't involve me, affect me so why should I care.

Good on the french I say.

not true at all - quite a lot of publicity, events, protest days, campaign song, etc etc etc - sign up and get multiple newsletters a week from the organisers - http://www.notobikeparkingfees.com/

31st of march is d-day apparently, so be there ;)
