I am looking to do my 1st ever track day in the near future but I don't know which one to choose ........... I don't want to use my own bike so I've found 2 companies that offer a bike & leathers incl tuition for £260 for Mick Boddice at Darley Moor or £269 at Ron Haslam's Race School, Donnington. The cheaper one appears to have more track time.

Any ideas which would be the one to choose? They are quite close to each other so distance isn't an issue ................. anyone had any experience of these particular companies?

Do the Ron Haslam one, I've heard mixed reviews of the Darley Moor one.

Darley Moor is a circuit that doesnt usually raise much of a grin and it isnt used by the main TD companies.

If you've never done a TD before then Haslam's at Donington is fine to start with & gets your eye in without committing your bike/gear to a day out, however those who have done more than 3 or 4 TD's have come away very disappointed.

I'd be too scared to use my bike & I reckon I'd be more relaxed on someone else's bike coz if I dropped mine I'd cry..................

That's it then ............... my birthday present to myself will be a Ron Haslam Track Day ......... and then an early Xmas pressie, again to me, may be an ordinary track day on my own bike with MonstaChicky showing me how it should be done in true female style .................. :)

The disadvantage of doing a traackday on someone elses bike is you don't get to learn more about your bike.
(still expensive if any bike gets dropped too)

Good point and in an ideal world I could do a track day on someone else's S2R, but failing that I think it will teach me what bike's in general can be capable of and more importantly what I am capable of in a safer environment .................... but above all else I intend to have a great time ............... without dropping anyone's bike :)

Its a good point i think they take £500 on your card to cover any damage, the other option would be to buy an insurance write off. You could pick up something decent for £1000 - £1200 if you split the cost between a couple of you that's the cost of binning their R6. Even if (when) you stick it in the gravel its not a problem no lights, indicators, clocks, to worry about, and your getting experience on a similar bike.

That would be a great idea and if i enjoy myself i reckon that's the way forward, i think i need to teach myself some basic mechanic stuff too as that would help. Thanks for all the advice .................. it's been very helpful as always
