View Full Version : Swinging arm wont budge !!!!!

Trying to remove S4 swinginarm, the circlips are off the lock bolts are removed but it will not budge even with massive hammer blows and heat!!!!!is there a puller for this job?

have you undone the pinchbolt on the arm?

not sure a puller would work, try opening the swing arm with a wedge(flat screwdriver) in between the slot on pinch bolt end.
mine came out fine but was a real pian to get back in.
good luck. and make sure you have a good drift and dont splay the shaft end out......

Patience needed, good penetrating fluid, and more patience. A brass drift is better than a steel one - it is softer so reduces the tendency for the shaft to splay/mushroom out. Try from both ends too. Use as large a hammer as you have and try to give heavy "dead blows" to reduce vibration and transmit all the force through the drift to the shaft.

Cant get brass drift here in Thailand i am going to try and make a puller from 12mm studding and a large socket on the other end may work , if not i will leave it until i come back from UK as all i want to do is check and maybe lube the bearings and get the swingarm polished.

got it out using mega force what a nasty job.its gone to be polished
