Well he asked for my help ,well I actually insisted he let me help as he seemed to be taking his time so I went down yesterday and now after 4 hours he has just an engine left in his dining room. Ha ;););)

Albie you have been longing to strip down scrapps bike :D

All bits I say all bits were collated and bagged by rich himself. I hold no responsibilty for missing parts other than his tank. Man its soooooooo beautiful. Nuff said.

Oh his steering bearings were soooo foooked. Dont look like those were ever greased. Swingarm came of easy too unlike mine

Best of luck.

Lucky isn't he. Caroline will not let me bring my clean bikes inside the house even.:eyepopping::biggrin:

LOL. When my missus first visited me at the last house I lived in, I had my 888 polished and on display in my dining room. Sarah's first words on seeing the bike sitting there in all its glory was 'what the f**k!':chuckle:

It is a pleasure mate. Dead envious that you at least have something to do to waste away these dark cold evenings. And your plans are indeed something I once thought about doing but never had the balls.

Shame about the can mishap but alas it was an unfortunate accident waiting to happen by anyone. Im just glad it wasn't me. Just take the stress out on the machine the damaged it.

Just keep me informed on the time plan for bits back. We need to get hold of the wiring route if anyone has one if not print of the photos onto A4 and in black and white.

What bars are you putting on. Your chrome ones ???. I thought satin black ones. If you want my s4 bars to coat.

Good luck with the rebuild.. I am always willing to lend a hand if you need it; best really if I just make the tea and hand you spanners as I am not a great mechanic....

Hi albie i am going to stick with the original bars. got the headstock bearing off the yoke with the help of a angle grinder as it was well rusty.
I spoke to the guys at the carbon can co and they can re-sleeve and re-pack the can,i will need to get both done so they match.(bit of fade as 6-7 years old) still the cans have been great untill the mishap and i will be happy to stick with them.(glad i went with british made cans)top cans and great service from them.
so i will get some bits together and toodle down to the powder coaters soon

The good old days before domesticity. I rebuilt an MBGT engine in my bedroom (I was sharing a house with 3 other guys) when I was in my early twenties - mechanical porn:biggrin:

Good luck on the build.

Yep its great being indoors in the warm to work on the bike,i have a garage but the light is poor and its cold and damp.
i am lucky that i have not moved in with the other half yet, so she has the new clean tidy house and i have the house with a bike in it......sorted
I hope your room was on the ground floor or that engine would have been a bitch to get down the stairs :chuckle: happy days :woot:
