Hi All

about to get back my bike from rosso corse and thinking about new lid

being the tart that i am i spotted these Bell M5X Daytona (http://www.bell-helmets.it/eng/m5x.asp) helmets which come in nice colours inc my tasty black with orange stripe
they also come in the red and white stripe and white and red stiror
combos so many of you have

anyone got one of these? any views?

other Bell lids seem to score very well in the SHRAP tests
are they really worth the £325 outlay?

what other lids would you recommend, i really like lots of good ventialtion opetion as i often get hot but i definitely want a full face helmet

are HJC any cop? they seem good value

thanks in advance
ali

I've got the HJC FS-15 Carbon (well model before this which is virtually the same), plain black with no stripes or stickers and subtle gold coloured fittings.
Nice and light, ventilates quite well and comfy... and its CF :mand:

Shark RSR's get very good reviews too

I have got the Bell Carbon fibre lid and it's excellent as it doesn't weigh anything and fits perfectly - most recommended

got one of this (http://www.kbchelmet.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage_images.tpl&product_id=129&category_id=28&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=95) and is much better than my old AGV, and costs half as much. Considering what you like (style/design),stay clear of the Roof Daytona, couple of friends had them and hated the thing.
Problem is, you need to try helmets on, or you won't know how they fit.

I'll second that. I saw the all carbon lid and thought 'bugger!' I wish I hadn't spent much more on my Arai. But then I spent a day wearing mine and realised it is perfect (for me). Still 1200 grams is verry tempting.

They look very nice indeed, I currenlty have an Arai RX7 a black one.

stay away from craft. i had an RX8 (i think) in carbon, (looks a bit like the simpson bandit ) mine fell of the sofa onto carpeted floor and put a big crack in it... craft couldnt give a t0ss even though it was 6months old.

Just made the mistake of going to my local bike store and they had one of these:

Now i dont like standard helmets but this one looks so good, and weighs next to nothing!

Mmmmm

The only drama is, i'd have to update all my biking gear!

the quality is great, only ssue can be if you ave a big nose as at speed the visor can move end up pressing on it

Bell are a fantastic brand for lids. Popular with the kart boys very very safe and well made. I'm just a big Simpson slut myself !! Roof I think suck .. Not impressed by them at all.
I would give BEll a massive thumbs up fir quality.

Mr G seeing how craft wear compared to SImpsons no contest I'd buy a SImpson again if they are used widely in motorsport and karting generaly good lids!!

I'm just about to order the red MX5, a good make and i like the design.
I think it's reasonably priced.

What cost safety?

I tried the Bell MX5 and found it really uncomfortable, the sales bloke reckoned a lot of people can't get on with them! I then tried a UVEX Onyx GP carbon fibre £450+, that was the most comfortable and lightest helmet I've ever tried. So I bought a £80 HJC :chuckle:
