Guys,

Please read the above thread about this event that Ducatisti.co.uk have just been invited to, due to personal contacts.

I'd like to extend the invite to UKMOC, so we'd get as many Ducatis there as possible, and as many exotic ones as possible.

I'll update as soon as I get any more news.

Seems like a very nice idea for a Sunday out.

I'm now not organising this, as I'm following the advice of many and 'moving on', by leaving the Ducati community.

I'll inform the Groombridge & Ferrari clubs that they should talk to DOCGB instead; hope they can carry on organising a Ducati attendance.

Is this the real Paiivi or a con to get us all ride to Kent for no reason?

Paivi,
What is going on..... are you really leaving the Ducati community?

Paivi,
What is going on..... are you really leaving the Ducati community?
Yes. Time to see see what the real world looks like. Never mind, eh, Gromit. :gromit:

I'll pass this thread to whoever from DOCGB wants to take over the organising. If nobody volunteers, maybe Ferraris will just have the event for themselves. Should be a good day anyway, but obviously better if Ducatis were involved.

I don't know who advised you to 'move on' but I hope you are making the right decision for you?
If you need someone from the forum to get involved with the organising, I am happy to put my hand up....

So, all in all, about 29 so far. We were hoping to get as many to turn up for this event as did for the Bristol fest, so we're still about 120 bikes short...

Feel free to add your name to the list.

Also, I know from the past that the Kenties suggested the Oakdene cafe for meeting point from where we'd ride down to Groombridge, but some other have said as the day clashes with the Brands BSB, it might not be that convenient traffic-wise. Could the Kenties please think about this and potentially think of another meeting place/two. We could always meet up in two separate places, and then ride to one local to Groombridge for mass regroup, no?

Ducati UK cannot provide anything for the event, as they're fully booked elsewhere, and ProTwins don't have a marquee or big screen or anything like that, so does anybody else have a good relationship with a dealer that might be interested in attending?

Ferrari are showing some F1 races on big screens throughout the day, so ideally, we'd have something similar, ideally showing the BSB live from Brands (if possible) or at least some exciting bike racing. Techies, get thinking...

Guys, we're still missing a dealer to come up with demo (not for test rides) bikes, big screen and race tapes to compete with the F1 tapes the Ferrari guys are going to show.

If somebody knows a dealer, could you please check with them? Ducati UK are fully booked elsewhere, Ducati Ashford is closed down and ProTwins are coming in a private capacity. Anybody know anybody else?

We are planning to be at the Oakdene Cafe by 10.30: (www.oakdenecafe.co.uk)
(Those located in SE Kent are meeting around Brenley Corner at 9.30)

I think it will take us 30-40 mins(at least) to get to G'bridge from the cafe....down the B2016 then the A228 is probably the most direct route??.. So we will need to leave the cafe by 11ocl, 11.15 at the latest...

Paivi
31-07-2009, 11:01 AM
Thanks for the update, Jim!

My participation is unlikely now, as the Ducati is not co-operating, and the Ferrari's not on the road either.

Even if I got a new battery for the bike, it won't help if I can't lift the bloody tank to replace it, and I'm running out of weekends to get the bloody thing recovered to a garage and to pick it up, so I'm going from the assumption that on the Sunday I'll be at home watching telly. Ho hum. Should have bought a Honda...

Albie
31-07-2009, 11:09 AM
you also realise i cannot now participate. im very upset about this but nothing i can do, probs the only 1100 monster there as well. im not up for pillion as some have asked. i dont do pillion. i hope the other still mobile members dont come up with excuses now. please dont let the side down if your bikes ok and you are too.

what i wouldn't give to turn the clock back 2 weeks.

just started my bike up and wow even with baffles in sounds cracking. the tail tidys on and finished other than new smaller numberplate required to fit between cans and both oil cooler shrouds fitted. looks really nice.

if i can get there by car i will but carolines on holiday in wales next week.

Oakdene Cafe at 10.30 for b'fast... http://www.oakdenecafe.co.uk/

We will be leaving there at about 11.15-30 and going to G'bdg...
I have arranged with Jill that we all meet up at the G'bdg gates and then we can go in 'en masse' to the parking area at 1ocl..
There will be lunch(3pm) and refreshments provided; and a bike beauty competition judged by the spectators. There is a nice prize being provided.

We will be parking on grass, so bring something to put under your sidestand...

As the Ducati's not playing ball, I'll be taking my other unreliable bike out, but as I'm just waiting for something else to go wrong with it, I'll be taking it easy at max 40mph, so I'll go straight to Groombridge. Should make it by 1pm if I leave now...

Great to see such a huge turn-out, thank you very much for attending and making the event very special. The Groombridge & the Ferrari peeps loved us and we've already been invited to come along next year. Apparently, we made the day with the racket we made. Well, when I say 'we', I obviously don't mean me, as my Ducati Vespa was being very quiet...

I decided to go straight to Groombridge rather than slow the group down, and had a fabulous ride, those Kent roads are just stunning, must visit that county more often! I only got back a few minutes ago as I did a detour via another county. A nice evening for a spin...

Huge thanks to everybody who came along, it was great to see so many different bikes. So many in fact that they ran out of food vouchers, as we'd only told them 70 would be turning up, but we had over 60 bikes come along.
