Hi guys,

I got a very nice Belstaff Thruxton leather jacket a couple of months back.
I've bought and applied some Nikwax Leather Cleaner and Restorer on it last week and now it looks a bit "dry" with little white traces here and there..
Had a look on the forum but couldn't find a similar question so did I do anything wrong?
Should I use something to hydrate it? :-/

Cheers!

I use saddle soap to clean bugs off then Renapur, although the best leather food is Ko Cao Line available from good saddlers. The latter waterproofs and softens but isn't suitable for aniline leather and as I'm not sure if leathers are aniline or not I haven't risked it yet on my new jacket. The saddle soap cleans and feeds and isn't expensive. The stuff in a bar that looks like Pears soap is the best.

Ive got some cheap stock of specialist autoglym motorcycle leather cleaners and restorers - let me know if its of interest.

Nikwax is good at waterprrofing but it did used to leave my black jacket with a dull finish..

I use baby wipes to remove the dry flys etc. followed by an occasional Nikwaxing. The dry white waxy deposits will wear off after a bit, just try to apply a bit more sparingly next time.

Renapur cleaner and leather food/dressing works well.

Nattyboy might be your man here...

I was recommended (and use) Autoglym's leather feed for car seats (I bet it's the same stuff in the motorcycle bottle x) and it really helps put the suppleness back into leather (typically that has got wet and then dried hard)...

And I'm sure Natty could do with the money... xxx

I've always used ordinary leather dubbin, bought from my local shoe repair shop. It keeps my Halvarssons leather jacket amazingly waterproof (even though it's not supposed to be!), and i also use it on my leather trousers, gloves & boots. Applying it can be a bit messy, so I wear disposable gloves.

I must have put too much waterproof to make those white marks so I'll try the baby wipes first and then maybe get some autoglym from Nattyboy then.
Cheers guys!
