Iam fitting a Monster rear end to my Honda, Its all about finished except the rear caliper bracket. I dont know how to fix it to the swinging arm ?? there must be some sort of fixing I dont have, which goes through the slotted hole.

Cheers.........

There is a hanger plate that pivots round the rear spindle. This is different for different year Monsters.
What rear end are you using?
Early (pre '98 I think)

& late

The best thing to do would be to ditch the Honda parts and get a Ducati front for your rear end!

You can see in Slob's pictures there is a welded area in the centre on the swingarm (half hidden by the can in the top picture) with a large Allen head (Cap head) bolt in the middle.

This bolt holds a spigot onto the inside of the swingarm which goes into the slot in the hanger bracket.

Note that both pictures are showing aluminium swingarms. Steel swingarms have the spigot welded to the inside of the swingarm.

I suspect you have an Aluminium one if the spigot is missing.

Here's a link to the parts diagram for the swingarm... You can see the spigot is number 24 and the aforementioned bolt is number 9

Why is the spigot bolt needed ??????? is it just a stabaliser.

It stops the caliper and its mount spinning with the wheel the first time you use the brake.
Just ask Stuart42 about what happened on the way to Belgium :chuckle:

Unfortunately you will need to strengthen the swing arm at the point where the bolt goes through. The welded boss you can see is there to prevent the (alloy) swingarm from collapsing as you tighten the bolt up. Large spreader washers would help but would look ugly. A suitable alloy spacer/sleeve arrangement could easily be machined. If you have no success getting one made locally give me a shout.

Luckily the Honda swingarm has a welded slot through to the outer edge so it should carry the weight.
Thanks for your advise though.

 So you're not fitting a monster rear end, as you are keeping the Honda swingarm?

NOOO, Its a monster rear wheel, caliper bracket, disc, sprocket and laverda caliper.
The front end though is mostly monster.
